Lynnderella Magic Fairy Stars, Swatches and Nail Art

Hi everyone! For the past few months, I have been very excited about Lynnderella polishes. I've been collecting them for about two years now, ever since they started shipping to Canada. But I go through phases - there's the "must buy all the Lynns!!" phase, followed by a cool off period. This seems to repeat itself every couple of months. Lately though, I've been really fascinated as a maker by the different combinations of glitters that Lynn does. It's inspired me to make more glitter bombs, even though it's something I struggle with.

Lynnderella Attitude Adjust-Mint, Swatches and Nail Art

Hi everyone! I was inspired by Peachy Polish's Lynnderella Monday series to pull out some of my own Lynnderella polishes. I don't show these polishes often, but they are some of my favourite in my collection. Every time I look at them, I want to mix up some glitter. To challenge myself I thought I'd do some simple nail art along with the swatches. I find glitters can be hard to incorporate into nail art.  Most of the time I end up doing accent nails with varying degrees of success. So we'll see how you feel about today's look. ;)

My Top 10 Nail Art Posts of 2014

Hi everyone! Happy New Year! This year has really been a struggle for me in terms of blogging. In between my almost two month hiatus to finish my dissertation, and my busy schedule these last 2-3 months to build my indie brand, I didn't post as much as I had hoped. Many of my blog goals from the beginning of the year were not achieved, which is why I won't be making blog goals for 2015. Despite that, looking back at this year's posts, I can see my nail art improving by leaps and bounds. I was also surprised by the variety and the risks I took to try new things, instead of sticking to what I felt I was good at.

I started with over two dozen designs that I felt were very strong. And I was able to narrow that down to only ten. So these are the designs that really stood out, designs where I felt I pushed my creative abilities. I hope you enjoy! Click on the titles to be taken to the original post.

Cirque Colors Mirror Mirror, Review and Nail Art

Hi everyone! Cirque Mirror Mirror, a silver metallic flake topper, is certainly unique amongst the growing number of metallic polishes available on the market. Which explains why this beauty has been selling out so quickly. I had hoped to time my review to a recent restock, but the polish sold out too quickly. So if you are interested in this I highly recommend following Cirque, and subscribing to their newsletter.

Instead of showing you the usual swatches, I decided to do some nail art instead. I created two looks with this polish, one easier and one more time consuming. Both I think take advantage of the unique properties of this polish.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Winter Wonderland, Day Five: Holiday Ornaments

Hi everyone! It's very late here, so this will be a short post. For the final day of Digit-al Dozen week I wanted to do something I've done several times before. I tend to do holiday ornaments at least once per year (see here for the 2012 and here for the 2013 versions). This year I was inspired by Wondrously Polished's cute vintage ornaments from earlier this week, but of course I put my own spin on them.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Winter Wonderland: Day Four, Winter Berries

Hi everyone! It's no secret that I love doing nail art that has a painterly look. So I'm very happy about tonight's nail art for Digit-al Dozen week. The inspiration was winter berries, and I wanted to do a background that had texture and variation, so that it had an overall grainy or arty look.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Winter Wonderland: Day Three, Poinsettia Flowers

Hi everyone! Tonight's post is a quick one on account of my waning energy levels. For day three of the Digit-al Dozen Winter Wonderland week, I'm doing another holiday design. When I think of the holidays, I think of poinsettia flowers, something my mom would always buy. So I put together this quick, sketchy look, featuring one of my new releases - Renaissance Cosmetics An Eternal Doll.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Winter Wonderland: Day Two, Pastel Snowflakes

Hi all! A few days ago, I introduced you to some UNT polishes I received from Live Love Polish, an online shop based out of New York City. I'll admit the pastels are a nice break from all the wintery shades we've been seeing, and I love these gorgeous cremes. So I decided to do another look that was seasonally appropriate.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Winter Wonderland: Day One, Holiday Water Marble

Hi everyone! When I tried the new Cirque Live It Up collection (see my review here), I knew I wanted to do some holiday nail art with these polishes. Of course this week's Digit-al Dozen theme of Winter Wonderland was the perfect opportunity. So I'm kicking off Digit-al Dozen week with a simple holiday water marble with glitter accents.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Thankfulness: Day Five, History

Hi everyone! This is embarrassingly late, but I'm happy to round off another Digit-al Dozen week, even if it does seep into the week after! When deciding what to do for day five, I tossed around a few fun ideas. I had the new A England collection sitting on my desk, generously sent to me from Nail Polish Canada, and it suddenly dawned on me.

For so many years I've been interested in learning about history, and I'm officially an Art Historian now. So it only seemed natural to pay tribute to my love of history. And A England is the perfect brand to do some nail art, because more than any other brand it's known for drawing inspiration from history, art and literature.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Thankfulness: Day Four, Art

Hi everyone! I'm continuing on with the Digit-al Dozen Thankfulness week, and so far the things I've expressed gratitude towards have been mostly little things - food, coffee, glitter. Today's post I think falls in between the realms of little things and big things. It really depends on your perspective towards art.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Thankfulness: Day Two, Coffee!!

Hi everyone! Like usual I've fallen behind with Digit-al Dozen week, but hopefully my caffeine fueled nails will make up for that! I feel like coffee is so amazing it deserves its own week, but since that hasn't been scheduled yet, I'll pay tribute today.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Thankfulness: Day One, Yummy Sushi

Hi everyone! This week the Digit-al Dozen turns to the theme of thankfulness in all it's widest forms. I have so much to be thankful for - family, health, my completed PhD, but in the end I decided to look at the little things I'm thankful for, rather than trying to depict big weighty themes. So for day one, I'm looking at one of my favourite foods - yummy sushi!

Classic Galaxy Nails With Spell Polish

Hi everyone! Earlier this week I showed you three polishes from Spell Polish's collection "A Charm of Powerful Trouble" inspired by Macbeth. I had a few ideas for these gorgeous blue colours. In the end I decided on monochromatic galaxy nails. The beautiful shimmers in each one really lend themselves to a galaxy look, and they didn't disappoint!

Mentality Nail Polish Glazes: Swatches, Review and Nail Art

Hi everyone! In the indie scene, Mentality Nail Polish is known for their bare bones, minimal labelling and packaging, and their wide array of colours and finishes that are perfect for all kinds of nail art. Their "no frills" style is appealing and means that they are more affordable than many indie polishes on the market. I was fortunate enough to receive some gorgeous nail mail from Hillary and Danny, the husband and wife team behind the brand. So expect to see some Mentality features over the next few weeks on this blog!

The Digit-al Dozen Does Spooky Days: Day One, The Graveyard

Hi everyone! The Digit-al Dozen is doing a second week this month - this time it's spooky, Halloween themed nail art. Also we've got a fun giveaway going on. I may not be able to do five posts but I want to try to get in one or two more posts before Friday. Today's mani is a very quintessential Halloween look, since I don't often do Halloween nail art, I thought I'd start with the basics.

From the Readers: Fall Nail Art

Hi everyone! A few weeks ago, I put out a call for readers to submit their fall nail art. After much delay I went through the fall nail art designs many of you submitted. I had close to 50 submissions and believe me, every one of them was good. Narrowing it down was extremely difficult, but I finally was able to decide on eight fabulous designs to feature! If you weren't selected, please remember that I hope to do this in the future, maybe even make it a bi-monthly feature. So please submit again, because I'd love to feature as many people as possible.

Make sure to check out the full post, and to visit each nail artist's blog or Instagram. They are all very talented and deserve a like or follow!

Halloween Guest Post at Seize The Nail

Hi everyone! I had the wonderful honour of doing a guest post over at Seize The Nail. I've been a fan of Bella's beautiful nails and makeup looks for awhile now, and it's no wonder she's become such a popular nail artist on Instagram. I was asked to do a Halloween themed post so I turned to the infamous candy corn as my inspiration. Want to know how I feel about candy corn? Well you'll have to check out the post! ;)

What do you think of this? Let me know either here or over at Bella's blog!

Edit: I've submitted this look to the Nail Polish Canada Halloween Nail Art Contest, if you like my design you can vote for me HERE. Thanks!

OPI Damone Roberts 1968 + Renaissance Cosmetics Kensington

Hi everyone! By now you have likely heard of OPI's Damone Roberts 1968, a limited edition polish that first came out in 2009 for the brand Damone Roberts. It was recently re-released again for a limited time earlier this year. I never thought I'd get my hands on it because of the steep price and shipping, but I was surprised and touched when my friend Joy gifted it to me a few months ago.

Fortuitously I was wearing Renaissance Cosmetics Kensington at the time, and I remember thinking - well aren't these looking good together! So I decided to create a simple chevron design with the two.

The Digit-al Dozen Does Floral: Day Five, Faded Linen Roses

Hi everyone! I ran out of time towards the end of this week's challenge, so for my last look I put together something that was (relatively) quick. But I think it also puts a twist on your usual flowers.
