Foxy Paws Shady Love

Hi everyone! I have another great polish from Danish indie brand Foxy Paws Polish. I've been slowly (too slowly in fact) working my way through the Filthy/Gorgeous collection (see my previous posts here). While the other polishes in the collection are bright and full of colour, this one is on the darker side. So I had to come up with an edgier look to feature it.

Foxy Paws Ms Matronic's Magic Mirrors

Hi everyone! I was a bit sporadic posting last week, but I think I needed the mini-blogging break. I feel really excited about all the posts I have to share with you, given that I didn't post much last week.

Foxy Paws Ms Matronic's Magic Mirrors

First up I have a polish that I should have shared with you long ago! Foxy Paws Ms Matronic's Magic Mirrors is from the Filthy/Gorgeous collection along with Baby Come Home and Let's Have a Kiki. Like the two previously shown from this collection, this polish is fun, bold and bright. Make sure to check out my previous posts on this collection.

Foxy Paws Let's Have A Kiki

Hi everyone! I have another fun polish from the Foxy Paws Filthy/Gorgeous collection; make sure to check out my previous posts on this collection. These polishes are inspired by the American pop group Scissor Sisters and they are all in very fun, bright, neon colours, some that glow in the dark and react under UV (black) light. It's worth heading on over to the Foxy Fingertips website just to check out the songs that inspired each one, I guarantee it will get you humming and dancing in your seat!

This one is another bright neon polish, that also glows in the dark! Make sure to check it out after the jump for more photos.

Foxy Paws Baby Come Home...And I've Got Some Stars For You

Hi everyone! I have a short post for you tonight since I have an 8:30am class tomorrow - drag!! Foxy Paws Baby Come Home is from the Filthy/Gorgeous collection, seven super fun polishes with bright neon colours, and sparkly glitter. Many of them also glow in the dark and reflect under UV light. Like so many of Charlotte's polishes, these are inspired by music, more specifically, the American pop group Scissor Sisters.

Review: Foxy Paws Happy Cuticles Treatment Oil

Hi everyone! This is my first review of a nail care product, so I'd love to hear your feedback at the end of this post! As you may know, I've been reviewing polishes from the Danish indie brand Foxy Paws - in addition to the polishes that Charlotte sent to me, she also sent me a bottle of this cuticle oil. I wasn't asked to review it, but I've really enjoyed using it, so I wanted to share this product with you. For a bit of background on Foxy Paws Polish, make sure to check out my introductory post on the brand.

About Happy Cuticles Treatment Oil (from the Foxy Fingertips website):
"Make your cuticles happy with this treatment oil that smells like vanilla-lime cupcakes. It's special formula moisturises and cares for your cuticles with vitamin E and A and aloe vera oil. This is perfect for those of you allergic to almonds - there's absolutely no almonds in this oil."

My experience: I'm not going to tell you that this cuticle oil is "X times better than the other leading cuticle oil!!" or to "expect amazing results in only two weeks!!" My review is based on my experience using this product and what I like about it. I've been using it on a regular basis - at least once a day - for the past several weeks.

My favourite times to use this are right before bed, and while I'm working at my computer. I also use a touch of cuticle oil while I'm swatching, right before I take my photos - just make sure to rub in well and wipe off any excess. Bloggers, you probably already know that the camera has this lovely way of making your cuticles look worse than they actually are. Well, I find using this makes my cuticles look great for photos, and keeps them hydrated in between trying on and taking off polishes during a long swatching session.

Pros: So what is it exactly that I love about this cuticle oil?
  • A light, fruity scent. I love the pairing of vanilla and lime, and I never get tired of the way this cuticle oil smells. If you love fruity scents like I do, you might really enjoy this, I don't find it overwhelming at all.
  • Keeps my cuticles moisturized. Duh! What good would a cuticle oil be if it didn't moisturize!? However, I find that using this two times a day will keep my cuticles in better condition throughout the day.
  • Soaks in and doesn't feel overly greasy. Granted you don't soak your cuticles in the stuff, I find that this soaks into your cuticles and skin after about 10-15 minutes. I really hate products that are very greasy, so this is a win for me.
  • Economical size. While initially this product seems pricey (it retails for about $12), it comes in a 15ml bottle that will last you for a loooooong time. I've been using this product for close to a month now, and you can see the usage in the photo above - I've barely made a dent in this and I could see this lasting for many more months. :)

Cons:
  • Availability. Honestly, the only con I can think of is that you have to order it online, which is standard for all indie brands. However, if you are one of those people who doesn't like to shop online, this product may not be for you.

While I've really enjoyed using this cuticle oil, can I really say that it is better than its competition? I only own a few cuticle oils and my general impression is that they are fairly similar and so the decision to buy one over the other boils down to general preferences regarding ingredients and scents. I will say that this one works just as good as the others I've tried (in my limited experience), and that it's worth trying for yourself.

Foxy Paws She's Got The Look

Hi everyone! I hope you are enjoying your weekend. I spent the day swatching - of course, I didn't finish everything I wanted to. And tomorrow my sister is going to come over and we're going to make some polish. I'm excited! :)

I have another Foxy Paws polish that is guaranteed to get you humming some 80s tunes! Lol! And fortunately it's also a really awesome polish.

Foxy Paws She's Got the Look

She's Got the Look is named after a Roxette song (listen to the song!). Man, I loved Roxette when I was a kid!! It's no surprise that Charlotte made a neon glitter topper to go with this song.

Foxy Paws She's Got the Look

The polish has neon micro-glitter, neon stars, and an iridescent shimmer. I normally don't go for micro-glitter but the stars and the shimmer make this more interesting for me. You're looking at one coat over white, and it applied effortlessly. I didn't get a lot of stars, but I like how they are more sparse.

Foxy Paws She's Got the Look

The shimmer was hard to capture on camera, but believe me, it's definitely visible in person. Layering this over a coloured polish might help to bring out the shimmer.

What do you think of this? Do you like neon glitter trend?

Foxy Paws The Spell

Hi everyone! This is day five of eight days of Foxy Paws, and I can't believe I'm over half way through these polishes. If you're not familiar with the indie brand Foxy Paws, check out my introductory post.

Foxy Paws The Spell

The Spell is from the Danish collection, and like all the polishes I received to review this one is named after a song - this time by the Danish group Alphabeat. I wasn't familiar with the song, so if you're in the same situation, check out the video here. (Warning: it's a catchy tune!)

Foxy Paws The Spell

The polish is a black jelly with multicoloured metallic circle glitter in different colours - pink, blue, gold and silver - and also small blue hexes, and medium red and gold hexes.

Foxy Paws The Spell

The application was flawless, I used two coats over one coat of a plain black polish. There's great glitter payoff and it went on very smooth. You can wear it on its own - I tried it this way but didn't take any pictures. It would take three coats for full coverage, but then the glitter makes it bumpy, so you would need two coats of top coat to smooth it out.

Foxy Paws The Spell

I feel like this is a very fun polish - I seem to be saying that a lot with this brand - like something I would wear for a night out. I always enjoy black polish, and this was a nice variation on black nails.

What do you think of this polish? What is your favourite Foxy Paws polish so far?

Foxy Paws Purple Rain

Hi everyone! I'm back with day four of eight days of Foxy Paws polishes. But before I get into the polish, I wanted to point out that this blog has a new look! You may remember that a site redesign was one of my monthly goals, and I'm very happy with how it turned out. If you read my posts through a blog reader, I encourage you to visit the site. I'd love to hear your feedback. And if there's any issues with the redesign, and/or you have problems navigating the site, please let me know! :)

Foxy Paws Purple Rain

Purple Rain is another polish from the 80s collection, this time named after a Prince song (check out the video here). It's a warm-tone purple linear holo. The holographic effect is very good - a bit stronger than you see in these photos - but it's not full-blown in-your-face holo.

Foxy Paws Purple Rain

Foxy Paws Purple Rain

The polish has a good formula, I found with the first two coats it didn't exactly level out completely, but with the third coat everything looked great. I needed three coats for full coverage and the finished look was very smooth and even.

Foxy Paws Purple Rain

I know there are lots of indie brands that make holos, but if you love this kind of colour, I encourage you to check it out. I find purples like this to be very flattering and beautiful. And a very good formula doesn't hurt either!

Foxy Paws One More Night

Hi everyone! I'm kicking off day three of eight days of Foxy Paws polishes. If you are not familiar with this indie brand, check out my intro post.

When Charlotte of Foxy Paws sent me the package of her polishes, I oohed and aahed over every one of them, but this one in particular really caught my attention. Wearing Foxy Paws One More Night only confirmed that this was my favourite out of the bunch.

Foxy Paws One More Night

One More Night (named after the Phil Collins song) is a purple and blue duochrome set in a dark blackened base. It's very shimmery with a scattering of small silver holographic glitter. The formula was good, and I needed two coats for full coverage. It starts to set fairly quickly so you need to work fast when applying but otherwise it goes on very evenly. In some of the photos it looks a bit uneven in spots, but it's not noticeable in person.

Foxy Paws One More Night

Foxy Paws One More Night

One More Night looks like a galaxy mani in a bottle. That's why I used it for my galaxy nails that I did for The Nailasaurus - the effect was really amazing and it added a lot of shimmer to the design.

Foxy Paws One More Night

I'm also happy to say that it looks great under all kinds of lighting - direct sunlight, low light, even grocery store lighting (because, yes, I check out my nails while waiting in line at the grocery store). And even though it looks like the purple is not very prominent in these photos, it's just very camera shy and more visible in person.

What do you think of this one? So far what is your favourite Foxy Paws polish that I've shown?

Foxy Paws Just Can't Get Enough

Hi everyone! I hope you are enjoying your weekend. I spent my entire Saturday doing one nail art design that took about six hours - yes, just one - so I'm a bit beat. But I'm not tired enough to show you another cute polish from indie brand Foxy Paws! Make sure you read more about Foxy Paws in my first post about this brand.

Foxy Paws Just Can't Get Enough

Just Can't Get Enough is from the 80s collection and is named after the Depeche Mode song - if you don't know which one I'm talking about, well, that's a complete travesty! Watch the video here (btw, don't you think they look a bit odd dancing in that empty room?).

Foxy Paws Just Can't Get Enough

Foxy Paws Just Can't Get Enough

This is a clear-based glitter topper with matte neon pink square glitter, tiny neon pink glitter, and tiny silver holo glitter. I layered one coat over Avon Vintage Blue and I love this combination. The formula is perfect, there's great glitter payoff and I didn't need to fuss at all with the placement of glitter.

Foxy Paws Just Can't Get Enough

Foxy Paws Just Can't Get Enough

The mixture of glitter is fairly simple, but I'm quite enjoying it. It's a very fun polish that would look good layered over white, pinks, purples... well I'm sure you can think about more possibilities!

Introducing Eight Days of Foxy Paws: Walk Like an Egyptian

Hi everyone! I have a new to this blog indie brand for you. Foxy Paws is based out of Denmark and Charlotte, the maker/creator also runs an online distributor called Foxy Fingertips that sells several indie brands as well as nail care and nail art supplies.

Foxy Paws Walk Like an Egyptian

Charlotte says about the brand (which was launched February 2013):

"Foxy Paws polish is handpoured and mixed with a love for colour and glitter. They are 4-free, which means they're free from DBP, Toluene, Formaldehyde and Formaldehyde resin. And of course never tested on animals - although the foxes likes polished nails, they wouldn't like being test animals."

Charlotte was kind enough to send me seven of her polishes as well as a bottle of cuticle oil. Instead of putting together 2-3 larger posts of swatches, I'm going to do a series of short posts, one for each polish. Sometimes this will be in addition to my regular posts, since I still have the 31 Day Challenge and other reviews to show you. :)

Foxy Paws Walk Like an Egyptian

All of the polishes I received are named after songs, and Walk Like an Egyptian is no exception. This one is from the 80s collection and is named after the famous song by the Bangles (watch the video!). It's a turquoise blue shimmer with a smattering of 22K gold flakes. I used 3 coats with one layer of top coat, and the formula was perfect - it goes on smooth and is perfectly self-leveling.

Foxy Paws Walk Like an Egyptian

Foxy Paws Walk Like an Egyptian

I love the colour and I definitely get a feel for ancient Egypt from this - in particular, their love of gold and colourful jewelry. I'm also enjoying the subtle accents of gold. It adds a nice touch without being overwhelming.

Foxy Paws Walk Like an Egyptian

I hope you liked this introduction to Foxy Paws. As I said I'm going to be keeping these posts short from now on - last thing I want is to over post and for you to get burnt out! ;) But since I normally show multiple polishes in a post, I hope you like the change of pace.

Foxy Paws polishes is available from Foxy Fingertips (European buyers) and from Store Envy (international buyers). Follow Foxy Paws on Facebook and Instagram.
