Femme Fatale Cosmetics Swatches

Hello everyone! Things have been quiet over hear on account of work, but I'm very excited to be showing you some Femme Fatale swatches tonight!

Femme Fatale Cosmetics, an indie brand and distributor based in Australia, is probably amongst my favourite indie brands. They are constantly introducing polishes that become lemmings for me. Also they make and sell gorgeous mineral eyeshadows - I bought some a few months ago, and I seriously use them at least 2-3 times per week. If you have not checked them out, I encourage you to do so!

Femme Fatale Cosmetics Swatches

Hi everyone! First, thanks so much for all the kind comments many of you left on my giveaway post yesterday. I've read all of them, and wow, thank you!! If you haven't entered my giveaway yet, make sure you do so. :)

A few weeks ago I was given the chance to review several polishes from Femme Fatale Cosmetics in Australia. This was my first experience with this popular brand, and I was very happy overall with them. It wasn't exactly smooth sailing, however, and two polishes in particular gave me a slight bit of trouble (not enough that I wouldn't recommend them though). Rather than go out of my way to make my swatches perfect, I decided to show you how they looked when I first tried them. Hopefully this will make sense if you keep reading.

All swatches are shown with a coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top, which I am quickly becoming a fan of. The only exception is Fatal Attraction, which is top coat hungry, and in that case I used two coats of top coat.

Fatal Attraction is a deep berry-coloured jelly with red, magenta, and purple micro-glitter. The glitter really lights up giving the polish that "lit from within" look. I absolutely love how this looks both in daylight and low light conditions - it's very shimmery and animated. It reminds me of Girly Bits Razzle Dazzle, only Fatal Attraction is darker. This is one polish I see myself reaching for again. This was two coats. While the formula was a tad thick, it worked in this case, and the application was excellent.

Galaxis Shards is one of the polishes that gave me some trouble. It's a black jelly with silver and grey metallic hexes, holographic bars, black bars, and tiny holo glitters. It's packed with glitter - but maybe too much. Even with gentle shaking there was too much glitter and it was difficult to spread. I stopped after two coats because the polish was already getting thick on my nails. It's still a gorgeous polish, however, I would recommend layering one coat over a black base. I think it would look amazing that way. :)

Mana Ruby is a very sheer raspberry jelly with sheer blue iridescent glitter and small/medium red hex glitter. Because it's so sheer, it really needs to be layered over a base colour. My inclination was to use a matching colour, so I did one coat of Mana Ruby over Essie She's Pampered. This is one of those polishes that looks absolutely gorgeous in person but is so difficult to capture on camera. The shimmer from the iridescent glitter is very noticeable - it's not in-your-face noticeable, but you have good glitter payoff on each nail. The formula was excellent and I had no issues with this one.

Star's Lament is a black jelly with holographic micro-glitter and small holographic hexes. The effect of this one really does look like a galaxy mani! This is another one that I wish I had layered over black. Instead I kept my swatches as is, so that you can see what it looks like on it's own. The formula on this one was great, however, the polish was a bit sheer for my liking. This was three coats and you can still see some nail line. Also it tended to pull away from the tips of my nails. Otherwise, this is another gorgeous polish I'm going to reach for again. I really want to wear this on a sunny day!

Overall, these polishes are gorgeous, and there's a few - Fatal Attraction and Star's Lament - that I can't wait to wear again. It's true I hit a few snafus in terms of the application with some of these, but nothing that can't be fixed! :)

Femme Fatale Cosmetics polishes are available from their website. A list of stockists can be found here.    You can also keep up with Femme Fatale Cosmetics on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
