The Polish Bar Late Summer 2015 Collection (Partial), Swatches and Review

Hello everyone! I’m back with a few polishes from The Polish Bar’s Late Summer 2015 collection. I’ve had the pleasure to review The Polish Bar several times (hereherehere, and here) and these did not disappoint. The collection consists of seven polishes named after some gorgeous beaches scattered around the globe. I reviewed four - two holos and two crellies. In short, I found the crellies slightly difficult to work with, but still very good polishes. The holos are excellent and my favourite Polish Bar polishes to date.

Also, you may notice my photos look a bit different. I didn't keep my lightbox when I moved so I'm testing different lighting and photo set ups. I feel like I got a bad haircut and it's in that awkward in public phase until it grows out. So be patient with me. ;)

Bora Bora is a pink-leaning purple neon holo. I found the holo effect to be subtle to medium, and it really sparkles in the sun. It also has a subtle copper shimmer that’s gorgeous - in some lights you can see both the copper and the holographic shimmer and I love it!

The Polish Bar Bora Bora

Formula-wise, it has a jelly-like consistency, and it’s a bit patchy at first, but evens out. I used three coats, and found the polish went on really smooth, and I didn’t have the issues with stickiness that I had with the crellies.

The Polish Bar Bora Bora

Cape Cod is a white crelly with matte fuchsia, pink, lavender, yellow and baby blue glitters in different shapes and sizes. The glitters are hexes, squares and circles in small to medium sizes - no annoying large or shape glitters for those of you who find them difficult to work with.

The Polish Bar Cape Cod

The formula was a tad difficult to work with, I found the polish had a slight stickiness to it, which I thought might have been caused by the weather here, and the fact that I’m working under a ceiling fan. But I didn’t have the same issue with the holos, so I assume it’s the polish. It still applies evenly, just make sure to be careful and wait a few minutes in between coats. I used three coats here.

Maldives is described as a bright neon blue holo. Like Bora Bora, I wouldn’t describe this as a super bright, eye-searing neon, but it’s still a nice, vibrant color. The holo effect is subtle to medium, and it also has a subtle shimmer that I can’t place my finger on - it looks slightly golden in some lights, iridescent in others. Either way, it’s beautiful.

The Polish Bar Maldives

The formula was the exact same as Bora Bora and I used three coats here.

Waikiki is a white crelly with tiny neon matte glitter. The base is really sheer on this one, so if you don’t like that, I recommend layering over a white/off-white base.

The formula was very similar to Cape Code - it has that slight stickiness, where the polish drags a bit as you're applying it, but it’s still very workable. I used three coats here, and despite the issues, it still went on very evenly.

Final thoughts:

As you can tell, I’m very partial to the holos, I think the colours are gorgeous, the application is very good, and I love the combination of shimmer and holo effect. I’m currently wearing Bora Bora as a full mani, and I love it! The crellies have some minor issues, but I’ve swatched crellies that were far more difficult to work with than these. If they suit your taste, I don’t think you’ll regret getting them.

    1. Thank you! And yes, the holos are stunning! I wasn't able to capture much of the shimmer or holo so they are more stunning IRL. :)

  4. Those holos are gorgeous! I really love the look of the crelly glitters but the sheerness would put me off as I can't stand VNL. P.s. I think the lighting in these pics looks great!! Very crisp and flattering!
