The Seven Ravens nail art |
I was able to complete one final fairytales-themed mani before my work got overwhelming. I really love how this turned out, and it may be one of my favourites from this theme.
About the story and the design:
The Seven Ravens is a story that was collected by The Brothers Grimm. The story is about a father who turns his seven sons into ravens after they fail to do something he asked them to. The father also has a daughter, the youngest, and when she grows older, she sets out to find and rescue her brothers.

For the design I wanted to do something that had a bold, graphic look--like woodblock prints. So I did minimal shading, and only accents of colours here and there.

To get this look:
Like the previous three designs, this is also done with acrylic paint on a nude base. At times I pressed my brush down while I was painting to get that streaky look. I also wanted to imitate the texture that you see with woodblock prints.
- Base: OPI My Vampire is Buff
- Design: Acrylic paint in black, white, brown, and sap green
- Brush: Pure Color Glamor 1 from Stylish Nail Art on Etsy
- Top coats: Girly Bits What a Rush and Essie Matte About You
Day One: The Angel
The wood-blocking concept looks great against that base. Great detail work!
ReplyDeleteThis is actually a story I never heard of; it sounds really dark!...well, as are all Grimm tales, I guess!

These nails blew my mind. GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteOutstanding! While I know I won't do as good a job of it as you've done, I pinned this so I'll have inspiration to celebrate Poe's birthday next year. (this came out just a smidge too late this year, darn it!)
