Nail art for The Angel by Hans Christian Andersen |
The Story:
The Angel tells the story of a recently deceased child and an angel of God. The angel takes the child to all the places on Earth that the child loved. Along the way they collect flowers to plant in the gardens of heaven. On their last stop they go to collect dead flowers that had belonged to a sick boy who had died the year earlier. The angel tells the child that he was that sick boy before the two go up to heaven.

About this design:
One quote in particular stood out to me:
The angel plucks a large handful of flowers, and they carry it with them up to God, where the flowers bloom more brightly than they ever did on earth.

So I imagined the transition from the faded, wilted flowers on Earth, to the brightly blooming flowers in heaven. It's a simple design but I like how it fits with the story.

Final thoughts:
I like this simple style and I'm going to try to do the rest of this week's designs in this manner. I feel this theme lends itself to a more illustrative style so I want to focus on my drawings and not on trying to make nail art - if that makes sense.
What do you think of this? Were you familiar with The Angel?
