The Digit-al Dozen Does Winter Wonderland: Day One, Holiday Water Marble

Hi everyone! When I tried the new Cirque Live It Up collection (see my review here), I knew I wanted to do some holiday nail art with these polishes. Of course this week's Digit-al Dozen theme of Winter Wonderland was the perfect opportunity. So I'm kicking off Digit-al Dozen week with a simple holiday water marble with glitter accents.

Holiday Water Marble

About this design:

I tend to avoid conventional water marbles for good reason - I find them so hard to do! So while this look is very simple, it was very challenging for me. The two water marble nails I did multiple times - my middle finger I did twice, and my ring finger four times! Cirque's Holo-day Cheer was the perfect accent. This polish is actually limited edition and you can read more about it in my review post.

  • Base: Pure Ice Superstar!
  • Glitter: Cirque Holo-day Cheer
  • Water marble: OPI Jade is the New Black, Essie Snap Happy, Orly Luxe
  • Top coat: Girly Bits What a Rush

Final thoughts:

These Cirque glitters are difficult to incorporate into nail art. I learned the hard way that they don't work well for glitter gradients, so you're pretty much confined to accent nails. In this case, I like the combination of glitter and water marble. And the challenge of trying to do a conventional water marble makes me want to do more.

What do you think of this? Are you clueless like me when it comes to doing water marbles?

  2. I would not have guessed you had issues watermarbling, it looks great! I personally have issues watermarbling. I rarely do more than one finger as well. I can get the polish to spread, I just mess up the designs. It never looks how I want it to.

  16. Perfect Christmassy colours! The glitter topper is just gorg! I hear you about the water marbling difficulties. I wish I could figure out how to get it done without a million air bubbles showing up (though they are fun to pop).
