Cirque Colors Live It Up Collection, Swatches and Review

Hi everyone! I have the latest collection from Cirque Colors for you tonight. When it comes to indie polish, Cirque is known for their high quality lacquers, packaging and promotional material. I love splurging on their polishes, and I've never been disappointed by this brand. So of course I jumped at the opportunity to review them. The Live It Up collection is a set of five glitter toppers, perfect for the holidays and New Year.

Formula and application:

All swatches are one coat over a base polish. I found the formula on each one to be effortless. They are not thick, and there is just the right amount of glitter that I didn't have to try and fish anything out. I used the dab method to apply these - dab a bit of glitter and spread out - which I find makes the glitters go on more evenly.

If you've never tried Cirque before, all polishes have a touch of essential oil - lavender and clary sage - which leaves a subtle scent after you apply it. I find the scent to be pleasant and not overwhelming at all.

All swatches are topped with Girly Bits Glitter Glaze, which I hope to review soon!

The polishes:

1999 is a fun white and silver glitter topper, with matte white and silver holographic glitter in hexes, squares, stars, and triangles. Remember Y2K? When we all thought the world was going to end at midnight, and it didn't? Well this would have been the perfect polish to celebrate/face impending apocalyptic doom. This is one coat over Misa BreakAway.

8 Crazy Nights is a mix of matte blue, light blue, and holographic silver glitter. It's a nice Hanukkah themed polish, and even better, 20% of net proceeds will be donated to City Harvest, a food rescue organization in New York. This one is limited edition. Shown is one coat over Pure Ice Midnight Magic.

Holo-day Cheer is also limited edition, with 20% of net proceeds going to City Harvest. This is a classic Christmas glitter topper with a mix of red, green, silver and gold glitter. It's super sparkly and very striking over white. Shown is one coat over Pure Ice Superstar!

Let's Dance is a great multi-coloured glitter topper with a rainbow mix of red, green, yellow, blue, orange, and violet metallic glitters. I love all the colours in this, even if it is difficult to find a good layering combo. Some of the glitters look like they might be curling slightly, but I didn't have any issues with that on the nails. This is one coat over A England Virgin Queen. It's an unusual combination but I love it regardless.

One More Time is a great black and white glitter topper, with a mix of white, grey and black hexes, squares, stars and bars. I found some of the bars want to stick off the nail, so having some tweezers on hand helps there. It also has a scattering of fine silver holo glitter which was nice. Shown is one coat over China Glaze Capacity to See Beyond.

Final thoughts:

If you love chunky glitter mixes that are not too complex, I think you'll enjoy these. They don't have shimmer, or tons of variety in the colours and shapes of glitters. But they are fun and appropriate for the holidays. They also apply perfectly, another bonus. My favourite is Let's Dance followed by 1999.

Availability:

These are available now from Cirque Colors. Holo-day Cheer and 8 Crazy Nights are limited edition but go to a great cause, so I recommend getting those if you are interested. Cirque is also have a promotion for US orders, with free shipping over $20. And until December 12, they are having a different giveaway each day, check out the Cirque blog for more details.

What do you think of these? Did you get your holiday polishes yet?
