About this collection:
The first collection is called the Modern Vamp collection - it's six polishes inspired by some of my favourite TV and movie vampires. If you want to see the inspirations behind them, you can find that on the Renaissance Cosmetics Instagram. The challenge with a collection like this is to take your inspiration (in this case the characters) and translate it into a polish. So I'll let you be the judge of my success in that respect.
The polishes:
An Eternal Doll is a nude/cream polish with very subtle gold shimmer, small and micro glitter in red and gold, and gold flakes. The shimmer can be enhanced by layering one coat over a matching base. Otherwise you may see sparks of gold.

The polish goes on very smooth but like a few others in this collection, it may be top coat hungry. I used two coats plus two thin coats of top coat.
An Eternal Doll |
This was inspired by Claudia, a child vampire from Interview With the Vampire. I consider this movie to be a classic and young Kirsten Dunst did a fabulous job in this role. Claudia is a child vampire that was "made" as a daughter for Louis. Claudia looks like a doll, and is dressed somewhat like a doll in the best dresses. I was inspired by her golden hair and porcelain complexion with this polish.

Blood/Lust is a dark red jelly filled with fiery red and metallic shimmer. It has a glowing look to it, which deepens with the layers. You can get full coverage with two coats but I found an extra really added depth.
Blood/Lust |
I used three coats here plus top coat. I find jellies can be tricky as they want to pull away from the tips, so I recommend wrapping the tips of your nails carefully.
Blood/Lust |
I'm a big fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and have watched the show two times from start to finish. So this collection is very Buffy influenced. Vamp Willow only appeared in two episodes, but her character is so great that she deserves her own polish. I took my inspiration from her fiery red hair and the dark red trim on her outfit.
Blood/Lust |
Cursed is a dusty blue with pink shimmer, white micro flakes and red micro glitter. It also has a bit of a scattered holo, although not strong. The shimmer is more visible than in some of the other polishes and I love how it contrasts with the muted blue.
Cursed |
The polish goes on very smooth and evenly. It may be top coat hungry, and I used two coats plus two thin coats of top coat.

I recently got hooked on the show Being Human (US version) and binged watched all four seasons. This polish was inspired by the main character Aiden, a 200+ year old vampire who has renounced drinking "live" blood and instead tries to live as if human. He struggles to live morally despite his past monstrosities and his inherent nature. I wanted to capture that duality, so the blue is taken from his nurses uniform, and the red, well I think you get that part. ;)
Cursed |
Footprints in the Snow is a white polish with a very, very subtle red shimmer. You may see faint flashes of red. There's also a scattering of micro glitter in black, silver, and hints of green and red. It's very delicate and I love the speckled look of the glitter.
Footprints in the Snow |
The polish goes on very smooth, however, it may be a bit top coat hungry. I used two coats here plus two thin coats of top coat.
Footprints in the Snow |
This was inspired by Eli of the Danish movie Let the Right One In, particularly the scenes that take place outdoors. The movie is set in the winter, and Eli, a child vampire, doesn't feel cold and sometimes walks around outside in the snow barefoot. I found the movie to be so eerie and quiet and I tried to capture that in this polish.

Out of the Darkness is black with a delicate rainbow fleck shimmer. If you look close you can actually see the tiny rainbow flakies. It also has a touch of gold shimmer and some holo sparkle as well. I love the effect of this, it's one of my favourites!
Out of the Darkness |
This goes on very smooth and I used two coats plus one layer of top coat.
Out of the Darkness |
This is my Angel (Buffy/Angel) inspired polish. For those of you not familiar with the shows, he's handsome, mysterious and brooding. Angel was evil until he was cursed with a soul. I wanted to represent his struggle for redemption and his dual nature - the evil Angelus versus the good Angel.
Out of the Darkness |
Sex, Death & Rock 'n' Roll is a flashy black polish with very strong gold shimmer, small gold holographic glitter, and a subtle to medium holo effect. The gold shimmer interferes with the holo effect but you can still see it in some lights.
Sex, Death & Rock 'n' Roll |
This is two coats plus top coat. It goes on very smooth but I found I had to wrap my tips carefully.
Sex, Death & Rock 'n' Roll |
Spike is probably one of my favourite vampires from the Buffy/Angel franchise. Whether he's pure evil, a neutered vampire with a chip in his head, or a lovesick vampire, he plays the part perfectly. Spike has a bit of a rock 'n' roll, Billy Idol wannabe look, so that's what I was aiming for here.
