Stained glass roses featuring A England |
For so many years I've been interested in learning about history, and I'm officially an Art Historian now. So it only seemed natural to pay tribute to my love of history. And A England is the perfect brand to do some nail art, because more than any other brand it's known for drawing inspiration from history, art and literature.
About this design:
To emphasize the idea of history I decided to do something in a stained glass style. Roses seemed like a good fit, don't ask me why. I don't feel comfortable yet just "winging it" so I went in search of roses done in stained glass. These roses were drawn from a stained glass panel called "Hybrid Tea Rose" by Robert Oddy (you can see it at the bottom row of this gallery). I really love how there are uncoloured sections so it looks unfinished. Of course I had to simplify a lot but this got me started.

To get this look:
You can find my stained glass tutorial here. I basically followed the same steps only using polishes from A England. To keep things simplified I decided to leave out the blue. The great thing about these polishes is that they are very pigmented so it was easy to fill in the sections, without having to go over them several times.
