Girly Bits A Twinkle in Time: Swatches, Review and Nail Art

Hi everyone! Girly Bits A Twinkle in Time is the December contribution to Llarowe's A Box, Indied subscription box. I've had the pleasure of reviewing several Girly Bits polishes for this box, and all of them have been fabulous. This one is no different and fits the holiday theme of the box perfectly. I also decided to do some simple nail art with this polish, something that would be perfect for a holiday party or whenever you want a touch of shimmer.

About this polish:

A Twinkle in Time is a micro glitter polish that can either be layered or built up to full coverage. It's got lots of silver holographic micro glitter, and slightly larger (but still very small) glitters in blue, green, silver and red. It also has a bit of a purple sheen to it.

I've been loving micro glitter polishes and this is absolutely mesmerizing. I love that there's a variety of glitter, but it still has a simplicity to it.

The formula was excellent. It goes on smooth and evenly, and there's no grittiness or texture to it. So I only needed one coat of top coat to seal it, not two coats like you sometimes need with glitters. Removal was also very easy, it was no different than regular polish, with maybe a few stubborn tiny glitters wanting to stick around. I used 3 coats for these swatches.

To get this look:

It's been awhile since I've done a glitter gradient, and this polish is just perfect for such a look. My base polish is Rescue Beauty Lounge Monologue. For the gradient, I sponged a bit, but mostly used the drag method. Basically you paint along the top of your nails with the glitter, clean your brush off, then drag the glitter down the nails. It's tricky but I think it worked fairly well here.

Final thoughts:

Every time I see these Girly Bits exclusives, I wish I had a subscription to A Box, Indied. They are always so well thought out and fit the themes perfectly. I think this is a great polish if you like glitter, but need a break from all the large glitter that you tend to see around the holidays (think stars and bell shaped glitter).
