Pixi Nail Colour in Classy Cocoa: Swatches and Review

Hi everyone! If you're in the US, shopping at Target might not be that big of a deal. But here in Canada, where Target only arrived about a year ago, it still feels like a new thing. Along with the arrival of Target also came some new brands that previously were difficult to get. One of those brands was Pixi by Petra, one I've had my eye on for awhile.

I've seen good reviews of Pixi Nail Colour on the PolishAholic and Vampy Varnish, so I was eager to try it. But the price tag was a bit of a deterrent. At $8 for 7ml, it's pricier than what I would expect to pay for a polish at Target. So I decided to splurge for one shade and picked out this gorgeous brown called Classy Cocoa.

Description:

Classy Cocoa is one of those shades that is classic, but also complex. It's a rich cocoa brown with a warm shimmer and cool-toned/taupe undertones. It's one of those shades that is hard to describe, but hopefully my swatches capture some of the depth of this polish.

Formula:

Pixi Nail Colour comes in a tall and narrow bottle, and therefore the brush is also long - something that takes a bit of getting used to. However, I found myself getting used to the brush length, and found it worked out well.

And I was relieved to find that the formula was excellent on this one - really it couldn't have been more perfect! It went on so smooth and was perfectly self-leveling. I don't remember the exact number of coats (shame!) but it was either 2 or 3.

Final thoughts:

I enjoyed this polish so much that I'd be willing to buy others from this brand. They do have a limited colour range, which is unfortunate. Also some of the shades are quite basic (from a polish addict's perspective). But other shimmery shades will eventually be coming home with me! ;)

What do you think of this? Do you own any Pixi Nail Colour polishes?

    1. Yes, definitely! Although it is close to China Glaze Choo-Choo Choose You - see my comment below.

  4. It looks pretty close to China Glaze Choo-Choo Choose you? At least on my screen anyway. Sometimes you can get lucky at target and get these for under $3 when they go on clearance.

    1. Thanks for the tip re: sales. I'll keep my eye out for the clearances. ;)

As for your question. Looking at my swatches side by side, they are very, very close. The overall colour is similar, but Choo-Choo has more colour shifting properties - the shimmer has golden/olive tones, and the undertones are more cool, almost purple. Think of Classy Cocoa as the more conservative sister to Choo-Choo, which may appeal to some people. Especially for work.
