Jindie Nails Tried & True Revisited

Hi everyone! I've been meaning to post more often but I've been spending a lot of time restocking polishes for the shop. I've also been feeling very down lately, something I need to guard against, especially as the days get shorter. If you have any tips on how to do that, I'd love to hear. :)

Tonight's post comes out of a Facebook group I'm a part of for fans of Jindie Nails. We're doing 31 days of Jindie, with a different prompt for each day. Today was my day and the prompt was "favourite crelly." So I decided to turn to one of the first crellies that got me hooked on the brand - Tried & True from the winter of 2012.

About this polish:

Tried & True is a white crelly with a mix of blue, silver and fuchsia hexes and square glitter. Today there are lots of crellies out there, but Jen was one of the first indie makers to put out stuff like this, so I consider it to be a classic.

The base is pretty sheer but it builds up well. I know from trying to make crellies myself that it's a delicate balance - too much white and the glitters get buried, not enough and it will be too sheer. So I always appreciate a good crelly for that reason. Formula on this was excellent - there's just the right amount of glitter and it goes on very smooth. I used 4 coats, but you could get away with three.

To get this look:

I also decided to do an easy mix and match look. With this kind of nail art, the hard part is finding colours that match, but also add variety.

Final Thoughts:

Between swatching new releases and doing nail art for challenges, it's not too often that I get to wear my older polishes. Doing this reminded me of how much I still enjoy this polish, I'm also happy to see that it's held up well for almost 2 years.

What do you think of Tried & True? And how often do you use your older polishes?

  2. Lovely polishes! And if you're feeling down, just come on to Tacoma and I'll give you a big hug and then we'll shop for polish. That's pretty much the cure for any ailment.

  3. Such a nice polish, I really like the grey glitter and generally the mix is great!! For not feeling down, I try to distract myself, even if it's really random like once I sewed a fish but it worked, just think of some fun diy to do? :)

    1. That's a great idea, to have some sort of distraction. I've tried it with TV before, but that's addicting. :/

  5. The nail art you did around this polish is so pretty! As far as older polishes are concerned, there a few favorites I'll always get back to. But some are just sitting there lonely being worn only once.. :(

    1. Thanks Lindsey! I originally did two nails Tried & True and two nails other things, but felt it wasn't enough so I added the stripes - so sometimes it's just trial and error. ;)

  9. Meghan, for winter blues I: schedule lunch or coffee with a girlfriend at least once a week; check out the local mall once a week, even if I don't buy anything; take an exercise class instead of working out at home alone; go on a weekly date with my hubby; try to get outside for a little bit unless the weather is too horrendous. I avoid: being alone too much; eating junk food or watching too much TV because I'm feeling sad; complaining too much to friends (instead I try to be the cheerful one who elevates everyone else's mood). And, of course, I polish my nails for "mental therapy"!! Hope those suggestions help in some small way!

    1. Those are great suggestions, thanks so much Cat! This is all stuff I kinda already know, but I need to hear someone else say it - the reminder helps! :)
