Vintage-inspired freehand floral nail art |
About this design:
This was another Google image-inspired look. Unfortunately I can't find the original, but I know I made quite a few changes, so maybe it wouldn't help. After I swatched Aliquid Lacquer Puppy Love I wanted to use it in some nail art. The teal went perfectly with a cream colour base but I felt it needed a bit more, so I added a touch of gold to the background. I really love how it turned out.

To get this look:
There's a few different layers to this design so I'll lay it out in steps instead of the usual list of materials:
Vintage-inspired freehand floral nail art |
- Start with a cream/off-white base, I used OPI My Vampire is Buff.
- Using the saran wrap technique dab on some gold polish, I used Orly Luxe.
- Using white acrylic paint and a detail brush, paint flower outlines - don't worry about too much detail here, it will get lost in the background.
- Dab on some teal polish where the flowers will be, I used Aliquid Lacquer Puppy Love.
- When that is dry, using dark brown acrylic paint, paint the flower details
- Wait for the acrylic paint to dry completely. Top with quick dry top coat, followed by matte top coat. I used KBShimmer Clearly On Top and Cult Nails Wax That.
Final thoughts:
I've done a lot of floral nail art, and I don't know if this is my favourite, but it definitely is one of my preferred designs. If I were to redo this I might change the flower designs/shapes but that would be all.
