31 Day Nail Art Challenge 2.0: Day 11, Flowers

Hi everyone! I have the first of what will be a lot of floral looks on this blog - next week the Digit-al Dozen also takes on floral nail art. I really love the vintage look of these, and I won't go into too much detail because I also filmed a video for them. I'll be posting that on myYouTube channel hopefully later this week.

About this design:

This was another Google image-inspired look. Unfortunately I can't find the original, but I know I made quite a few changes, so maybe it wouldn't help. After I swatched Aliquid Lacquer Puppy Love I wanted to use it in some nail art. The teal went perfectly with a cream colour base but I felt it needed a bit more, so I added a touch of gold to the background. I really love how it turned out.

To get this look:

There's a few different layers to this design so I'll lay it out in steps instead of the usual list of materials:

  1. Start with a cream/off-white base, I used OPI My Vampire is Buff.
  2. Using the saran wrap technique dab on some gold polish, I used Orly Luxe.
  3. Using white acrylic paint and a detail brush, paint flower outlines - don't worry about too much detail here, it will get lost in the background.
  4. Dab on some teal polish where the flowers will be, I used Aliquid Lacquer Puppy Love.
  5. When that is dry, using dark brown acrylic paint, paint the flower details
  6. Wait for the acrylic paint to dry completely. Top with quick dry top coat, followed by matte top coat. I used KBShimmer Clearly On Top and Cult Nails Wax That.

Final thoughts:

I've done a lot of floral nail art, and I don't know if this is my favourite, but it definitely is one of my preferred designs. If I were to redo this I might change the flower designs/shapes but that would be all.

What do you think of this? Do you like vintage-inspired floral designs?
