The Digit-al Dozen Does The Terrific Twos, Day Five: Cotton - Take Two!

Hi everyone! We've come to the end of Digit-al Dozen week. As much as I've liked some of the prompts, I'll admit I found this week very challenging so I'm okay with moving on. We've been celebrating our second anniversary, and for the final day we had the choice of repeating a prompt. I choose to do cotton again which is the traditional gift for a second wedding anniversary.

About this design:

When I did my first cotton design, I found it was a challenge to come up with an interesting take on the concept. Then I had the idea to do cotton plants - genius! I thought I was so clever, but then several other members had the same idea. Drats! Regardless, I still love this idea.

To get this look:

I painted everything freehand with a detail brush. After I did my salt and pepper nails, I was really interested in having a plain background, that way the plant becomes the focus.

  • Base: China Glaze Sea Spray
  • Plant stems: OPI You Don't Know Jacques, OPI My Vampire is Buff (highlights), China Glaze Don't Get Derailed
  • Cotton: Sally Hansen White On, touch of black mixed in for the shadows in the cotton plant
  • Top coats: KBShimmer Clearly On Top and Essie Matte About You

Final Thoughts:

I love the soft and dreamy look of this design. And the dusty blue base is the perfect compliment! I think this may be one of my favourite looks for this week. Or have I said that before?

What do you think of this? What was your favourite design from this week's nail art extravaganza?

  1. You have made some awesome designs this week!! I have loved every one! S&P shakers put a smile my face, the cotton T-shirt was simple and fabulous, I loved the uncut sapphire idea and your design was killer, only you can make a dotticure look like fine China, and these are so precious. Fantastic week!

    1. Agreed! Cotton was the hardest day. Honestly if I thought of this idea first, I may not have done the logo - that was so hard!
