The Digit-al Dozen Does The Terrific Twos, Day Two: Cotton

Hi everyone! Yesterday the Digit-al Dozen tackled pairs of things, and today it's cotton. So you might be thinking "what gives with these themes?" Things may seem scattered, but the themes this week all have to do with twos (things in pairs), anniversaries, or the month of September. We're celebrating our anniversary after all. Today's theme, cotton, is the traditional gift for a second wedding anniversary.

About this design:

The inspiration for this was quite simple - a "Made in Canada" logo, like you might see on a t-shirt. I think this design is also kind of ironic. Although I don't like to think of these things, I too was made in Canada. ;)  And now I have a Made in Canada logo on my fingernail.

To get this look:

Even though this design is simple, the logo and lettering on its own was very time consuming. I wanted the base to look like cotton, and to give the logo a faded vibe, like a Roots or an Anthropologie t-shirt (or any number of companies that appropriate a fake vintage look for their stuff).

  • Top coat: KBShimmer Clearly On Top and Essie Matte About You

Final Thoughts:

My lettering still needs some work, but given the tiny scale, I'm super happy with how it turned out. I wanted to do a maple leaf in the middle, but unfortunately my maple leaf skills are not up to par. It's on my "to practice" list. ;)

What do you think of this design? How would you interpret the theme of cotton?

  4. That's so cute!!! I remember when I was a kid, up North where most of the Unions were - they sang a little song..."look for the Union label, when you are buying a coat, dress or blouse..." I imagine that's the Canadian version! And now that jingle is stuck in my head. Ha!
