31 Day Nail Art Challenge 2.0, Day Two: Green

Hi everyone! I'm back with another day of the 31 Day Nail Art Challenge 2.0! For this day, I had the choice between green or yellow, so it was a no-brainer. I don't own too many yellows, and the ones I like I've used a lot lately. So green it is!

About this design:

I knew I wanted to do something nature themed, and of course green suggests leaves. I found a great print that had the look I was going for - a flat design with nice line work. I knew I wanted to start with some type of tan background, and then incorporate both white and black elements, so eventually I decided to add some white swirls in the background, and use the black for the veins of the leaves.

To get this look:

I painted everything freehand with one of my detail brushes - I forget which one. I originally left this with the glossy quick dry top coat, but I find that the glare makes it hard to photograph, so I topped it with matte top coat. It's not that I'm going through a huge "matte all the things!" phase, I just want you to be able to see what I've painted. :)

Final Thoughts:

I love the retro look to this design, and I'm glad I made the changes that I did - like the white swirls in the background. Even though the original design is very simple, I had to simplify the details in the leaves a lot more. I found that a bit surprising.

What do you think of this? What's your favourite green nail art?
