The Digit-al Dozen Does Summer, Day Two: Summer Wildflowers

Hi everyone! I've been working on some new releases for my shop, so I'm late in posting my designs for Digit-al Dozen week. This design was actually my second attempt to do wildflowers - my first attempt was more like a painting, but it didn't turn out well, so I did a more sketchy look. However, I love the idea of wildflowers so much, I may revisit them - if not this week, then hopefully soon.

To get this look:

I'll admit I didn't remember all the polishes I used in this design, but I'm listing the main ones. I painted everything freehand trying to keep things loose but also add some definition at the end with the lines.

  • Base: OPI My Vampire is Buff
  • Sky: L'Oreal Not a Cloud in Sight (appropriately named too!)
  • Grass: OPI Keeping Suzi At Bay + Sally Hansen Lightening, and Models Own Green Tea
  • Flowers: Bonita Royal Highness (purple shimmer) and Sally Hansen Lightening
  • Lines: Black (also mixed in some brown and blue to lessen intensity)
  • Studs: Born Pretty Store
  • Top Coat: KBShimmer Clearly On Top and Cult Nails Wax That

Final Thoughts:

I like the messy/sketchy quality of this design. And I also like that it doesn't extend to all nails - I think it would be too much, so the studs are a nice accent. It's not really what I originally had in mind but things happen that way sometimes.

What do you think of this? Are you into flowers and nail art?

  3. The sketch look is so pretty! You can't get the look with stickers or painting with nail polishes. Well done artist!!!!!

  4. You're so talented! I wish I had time for nail art like that. I love the sketchy look of these flowers too. I love that they aren't perfect and your typical "pretty" flower nail art. And I find that a design like that makes more of a statement on just one or two nails than if it were on all. Love the colours!

  6. I love the technique you used for the flowers and having them as two accent nails makes them pop even more :)

  8. Absolutely gorgeous! I think you're right - it really makes the mani with the flowers not covering every nail.

  9. I think this looks like a sketch book that's been left outside and the first drops of rain have landed on it. Beautiful x
