China Glaze All Aboard Collection for Fall 2014: Part Two, All Aboard

Hi everyone! As promised I have part two of the China Glaze All Aboard collection for fall. Make sure to check out my review of part one, the Loco-Motive set. This set is called All Aboard and it has some great cremes, shimmers and the lone glitter of the collection. At the end, I'll offer my thoughts about the collection as a whole, as well as my picks.

And if you would like to see any comparisons, please let me know in the comments. I can't guarantee that I own the polish, but if I do, I don't mind putting together some comparisons.

Formula and application: I covered this in my previous post, but in case you missed it, I'll mention it again. The formula and application of the polishes in this collection is excellent - in that respect it's really one of the best China Glaze collections in awhile.

All of the cremes go on perfectly even and smooth, are completely self-leveling, and cover in 1-2 coats. If you want some good cremes for nail art, and like the dark colours, you may be interested in some of these. The shimmers also have excellent formulas and go on evenly, but are 2-3 coaters. The darker colours may stain the cuticles a bit during clean up, but none of them stained my nails.

Loco-Motive is the lone glitter of the collection - it consists of microfine and fine gunmetal metallic glitter with small red-orange hex glitter in a clear base. It goes on perfectly - not too much glitter, not too little. I used 1 coat over Five Rules from The Giver collection for this swatch. You can also wear it on it's own - but I personally prefer it layered over a base colour.

My only issue with this polish is that it doesn't go well with the other polishes in this collection. I love the microfine glitter - but I want to see it. And the polishes in this collection are so dark that you can't actually see the glitter when layered.

Mind the Gap is a beautiful greenish beige shimmer. The shimmer has flecks of gold, copper and bright green. Not everyone will like this colour, but I personally found it very flattering and pretty. This was 3 coats.

Nice Caboose! is a dark fuchsia/raspberry with a very subtle shimmer. The shimmer is gorgeous in the bottle but unfortunately is not very visible on the nails. This was 2 coats.

One Track Mind is a gorgeous deep navy blue creme. Seriously, this colour is so stunning, and I think it will be perfect for nail art! This was 2 coats but it could easily be one.

Stop That Train! is a brick red shimmer - the colour is in between and orange and a red. I love how vibrant it is and the shimmer is beautiful. The brushstrokes are slightly visible but not so much that it looks like a frost. This was 2 coats.

Well Trained is a dark teal creme. This is another favourite of mine - I love the colour and it goes on perfectly. This was 2 coats but could be one coat if applied carefully.

Final Thoughts and Summary

Collection: China Glaze All Aboard (fall 2014): Part One: Loco-Motive, and Part Two: All Aboard
  • Most of the colours in this collection are dark and vampy (there are a few exceptions though), and many have a vintage look to them. The majority of the polishes are cremes, with a few shimmers, one with flakes, and one glitter polish. There may not be a huge variety in the colours and finishes, but as a collection it looks very cohesive.
  • All of the polishes have an excellent formula so you won't be disappointed in that respect! The cremes provide full coverage in 1-2 coats and the shimmers in 2-3 coats.
  • Nice Caboose! And Conduct Yourself were both a letdown - they both have a nice shimmer in the bottle but it's not very apparent on the nail. I had high hopes for these two.
  • There are some very unique polishes in this collection - specifically, Loco-Motive, Choo-Choo Choose You, and Lug Your Designer Baggage are unlike any other China Glaze polishes I've seen.
  • The cremes in this collection are gorgeous, and because they are so opaque, I think they'd be great for nail art - especially freehand nail art.
My Picks: Choo-Choo Choose You, One Track Mind, Mind the Gap, Well Trained, Don't Get Derailed

What do you think of this collection? What are you picks? And would you like to see any comparisons?

  3. Man, China Glaze did a great job with this collection! It's rare that a whole collection from a mainstream brand catches my attention but all of these will probably end up in my stash haha. I love them!

  4. I'm actually going to go hunt down most of this collection. I'm really blown away that this is a China Glaze collection, as they have been rather disappointing the last couple years. This is the old CG I know and love! Thanks for the swatches! <3
