The Polish Bar, Swatches and Review: Electric Violet and Orchid 2014

Hi everyone! Last night I showed you some nail art featuring The Polish Bar's Orchid 2014, and I couldn't wait to show you swatches of this gorgeous polish. I've posted quite a few polishes from this brand, and while I enjoyed them all, I saved my favourite two for last.

Maybe it's because I've been blogging for almost 2 years, or maybe because I have a somewhat large stash, but I've noticed lately that it takes a lot for me to get excited about a polish. But both of these made my heart skip a beat, and I'm cursing the fact that I only own minis of them. :(

Electric Violet is a warm violet-coloured jelly with a scattered holo effect. It's part of the Holo Jellies collection. The jelly formula is just perfect, and it has that squishiness that you absolutely want to have! Not to mention, the colour is also gorgeous and the scattered holo effect adds a bit of sparkle. It reminds me of grape soda.

I used 3 coats and it doesn't provide full coverage but that's the nature of jellies. It does have a lot better coverage than some other jellies on the market *cough China Glaze cough*.

Orchid 2014 is an orchid colour with a medium holo effect. I see lots of holos, but there's something about this one that is so mesmerizing! I think it's the colour - it's such a stunning shade of violet.

The formula was great - a tad thick, but otherwise no issues. It went on really even and smooth. I used 3 coats for these swatches.

Overall, I think these are both strong polishes. After trying Electric Violet I'm itching to get the rest of the Holo Jellies collection. Orchid 2014 is from the Spring 2014 collection, which also includes Spring Reverie (reviewed here).

The Polish Bar is available on Etsy. You can also follow The Polish Bar on Facebook and Instagram.
What do you think of these? Do you have a favourite polish from The Polish Bar?
