Hi everyone! You may or may not have noticed, but it's been weeks since my last post. Maybe you never noticed, and now you're thinking "yeah, where's she been?" or maybe you did notice and you thought I gave up on the whole blogging thing. Well I thought I'd drop in to let you know that I'm still here, that I still love this blog and love blogging, and that I'm still grateful for you as readers of this blog.
So where have I been? Well if you look at the little "About Me" blurb in the right column, you know that I'm a PhD student - being a grad student has defined me for the last eight years of my life (2 years for my masters and 6 for my PhD). Now that time is coming to an end. My finished dissertation is due to my committee at the end of June, first week of July at the latest. After all this time, thinking about this huge project, I still can't believe it's happening. All I know is that by the end of the month I'm going to be a huge mess.
Needless to say, blogging has to take a backseat in my life right now. But lately I've been thinking about the light at the end of the tunnel. And that light involves more blogging and more nail art. Seriously, is it July yet!?
I'll be dropping in every now and then. I still have reviews that I've promised, and I can't work 24/7. I've also been trying to put more effort into my indie brand Renaissance Cosmetics - I was so encouraged by the strong response that I got to my last collection, and it's been my bestselling collection by far. I've been testing some new polishes and I'm hoping to release those soon. But we'll see. Right now I'm just taking things one day at a time.
I'd love to hear from you. I'm not so busy that I don't read comments, so if you want, feel free to say hi or let me know what you'd love to see when I come back in full force. Or just share some silly PhD meme... ;)
Good job and good luck! As a fellow grad student I can definitely relate :^) What are you studying? Looking forward to seeing what you've got up your sleeve in the months to come!
ReplyDeleteThanks Amie! I'm studying art history - which is why I sometimes bring art stuff into my nail art. :) Good luck with your program!
DeleteVery cool! You are clearly a very artistic person, so that is very fitting :^) Good luck with the home stretch; what an exciting time!
DeleteI did notice you've been quiet and missed you and your nails. Was just about to leave a comment on another post saying so....but so glad you put up this update. :) I'm sure all will go well as you finish up your doctorate. it's a once in a lifetime (usually) experience & all hands on deck/focus type time. Glad you plan to come back when all is finished. We'll be here, with naked nails waiting for inspiration. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! To be honest, I wasn't sure if I should post an update or just leave it, but I'm glad I did. :) It's definitely hard to focus, but I'm trying my best and I can't wait to come back.
DeleteThat's great to hear your almost done! Best of luck!
ReplyDeleteThank you Lisa! :)
DeleteI'm happy to hear that you'll be back! I've missed your posts! Good luck on everything, you'll do great (:
ReplyDeleteYay! Thanks so much! And yes, definitely I will be back, right now that's what's keeping me going. O_o
DeleteGood luck! You won't know what to do with yourself when it's over!! What is the PhD on?
ReplyDeleteHaha! I know right!? I've had this dissertation thing looming over my head for so long, I can't imagine NOT having it to work on! My degree is in art history and my PhD is on Abstract Expressionism. :)
DeleteI hope the end is smooth sailing for you! Remember to take care of yourself, and don't let the stress become too much!
ReplyDeleteThanks Hannah! That's good advice. :)
DeleteWishing you warm thoughts and good will. July is only 3 short weeks away.
ReplyDeleteThank you Cindi! That thought makes be both happy and a bit scared at the same time! :S
DeleteLight at the end of the tunnel, hallelujah!! That much schooling would be the death of me. Way to go! I hope you are super proud of your accomplishments and we'll see you when things get less insane. :) I'm waiting for my nails to grow a little longer before I swatch the Renaissance polishes I just got. I can't wait. :)
ReplyDeleteLol! I get where you're coming from. Me personally, I love school always have, so I even see myself going back to school sometime after this - no idea for what though. :) I hope you'll share your Renaissance swatches with me - I'd love to see them.
DeleteI think it is brilliant that you are managing a blog, a PhD and an Indie Brand - well done you!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm not the best at multitasking so it's hard sometimes, but I guess I'm managing. ;)
DeleteI'd noticed you'd been quiet, glad to know you're just busy. We'll be waiting for you when you have time again :) Wishing you the best of luck!
ReplyDeleteGood luck!!
