The Neverending Pile Challenge: Day 7, Drugstore Polish: Crazy, Colourful Stripes

Hi everyone! I hope you had a great weekend! I actually felt very productive, I spent most of the day making polishes and was able to get a few batches finalized and ready to bottle. If you follow my indie brand, Renaissance Cosmetics, you may have noticed it's been awhile since I've released anything - I've just been very busy with work. So I'm happy to soon be in a position to show some new stuff.

I'm still behind with the Neverending Pile Challenge, and I'm starting to get used to it. Day seven is drugstore polishes and I have plenty of those lying around. I decided to pick out four fun L'Oreal polishes I bought last summer with the intention of swatching, but never got around to it.

About this design: Back in January I did some intricate sepia-toned stripes for the Digit-al Dozen monochrome week. I decided to recreate them but with more colour. I really love how fun this design is, but it was very time consuming. I think if I were to do this again, I would mix and match, so have one or two nails with the intricate stripes, and other types of designs on the remaining nails.

To get this look: I started with a base of Cult Nails Tempest. I topped that with clear quick-dry top coat - I learned this trick from Lindsey at Wondrously Polished. If you mess up you can use a bit of acetone to remove the mistake without messing up the base layer. It only works for tiny mistakes, but I did have to do that a few times with these stripes.

For the stripes I used L'Oreal Crazy for Chic (fuchsia), New Money (lime green), Orange You Jealous? (peach), and Not a Cloud In Sight (robin egg blue). I used a fine detail brush called JN Dance 24 from @stylishnailart on Instagram.

What do you think of this? Do you like doing stripe designs?
