The Neverending Pile Challenge: Day 2, Pastels: Essie Spring Geometric

Hi everyone! Before I get into today's post, I want to let you know about a feature I did over at the Digit-al Dozen blog. I don't really talk much about my life here, but if you're interested in reading more about me and why I started this blog, maybe you'll want to check it out! There's also a rare selfie - gasp!

So day two into the Neverending Pile Challenge, and I'm still going strong! Today's theme was pastels, so I decided to turn to some recent untrieds - the Essie Spring 2014 collection.

If you're interested in this collection, I'll have my review probably after next week's Digit-al Dozen challenge. What I like about this collection is that it has some soft pastel shades, but they are not "Easter egg" pastel shades, they are muted, sophisticated even. I paired them with some of the darker, brighter colours from the collection.

To get this look: I painted this design freehand with several shades from the Essie Spring 2014 collection. I started with a base of Spin the Bottle, a nice tan with rose undertones. Then I did the designs with Fashion Playground, Truth of Flare, Style Hunter, and Hide and Go Chic.

Style Hunter and Hide and Go Chic were perfect for doing line work. They are not sheer so they showed up well over the pastel shades.

What do you think of this design? Have you checked out the new Essie collection?

  1. What a fun pattern! I love how the geometric shapes are faded and not even too, it adds character to it.
