The Digit-al Dozen Does Texture, Day One: Pixie Dust Gradient

Hi everyone! It's that time of the month ... no, not that time of the month, that other time of the month ... Digit-al Dozen week!!

*awkward silence*

This month the theme is texture. Straightforward, no? Like any other challenge, it can be interpreted in so many ways - textured polishes, painted texture, studs ... you get the picture. Okay, so you'll want to check out the inlinkz at the end of the post. We have several new members added to the mix and I'm very excited to have them in the group.

About this design: I've seen so many gradients using texture polishes, so I had to try it for myself. I decided to go for a more neutral, work-appropriate look. While I love the look, the cleanup took forever on this, almost longer than it took to paint my nails in the first place.

To get this look: I started with a base of OPI My Vampire is Buff. If I had to do it over again, I would have started with the lightest of the Pixie Dust polishes. I did the gradient with Zoya Godiva, Logan London, and Dahlia, all from the first Pixie Dust collection.

What do you think? Have you ever done a gradient with texture polishes?

  2. They are lovely and work-appropriate indeed.
(Psst: I believe it's London, not Logan ;) Logan is a green shimmer)

  3. Such an interesting gradient! Very beautiful. I haven't tried it yet myself - but I have heard that you can use a glitter off base on the skin around your nails. That should make the cleanup easier :-)

    1. Thanks so much Sardrup! I don't have a glitter off base like the OPI, and I'm not sure I want to buy something like that, but I should at least invest in some Elmers white glue, I hear it works the same or similar.

  4. This looks gorgeous! I love how elegant and delicate it turned out. I'm in love. I definitely have to get that Dahlia. I haven't tried a textured gradient yet. Think I'm going to give it a try. ;-)

    1. Thank you Giovanna - yes, Dahlia is a must have, it's a really stunning black texture. And the formula on all the Pixie Dust polishes is excellent! :)

  5. I would never have thought to use Godiva with such dark, cool shades, but it works beautifully! Your colour bravery clearly paid off :)

  6. This is gorgeous. I've attempted gradients with textures and they never seem to blend well for me. You executed perfectly!
