My Erin Condren planner and matching nail art |
About the planner and design: But first a bit of back story. At the beginning of the year, Lindsey showed off her new planner and matching nail art. I made a comment that I loved the planner and I was looking for a new one. Well, like the wonderful friend that she is, she surprised me with my very own planner. And she obviously knows me well because she chose the paisley design for me. I've shown so many paisley designs on this blog, but the design on this planner is different from them all - very bold, colourful, and very dynamic.

You can see a better picture of the planner at the Erin Condren website.
Yes, these planners are pricey, but they are so well designed, and every detail has been thought through. All the pages are wonderfully designed, it has motivational quotes throughout, and plenty of pages for notes and organizing. Because it's so beautiful and well designed, I want to stay organized, and I enjoy carrying this around with me! I know I'll be buying another one next year. :)
Okay, but onto the nail art!

To get this look: I decided to stay true to the design of the planner and the colours used. Since the background is not black, but more of a slate grey. I started with a base of one coat of Cult Nails Fetish, and one coat of Essie Cashmere Bathrobe (I don't own a dark slate grey, otherwise I would have used that).

The next step was to paint where my design would go, and block it out using Cult Nails Tempest (an opaque white). This would allow for the colours to show up more.
I then painted in the design with my colour: Nubar My New Obsession (blue), Sally Hansen Lightening (yellow), Nubar On The Radar (red), Models Own Soda Pop Pink, OPI My Vampire is Buff, Misa Lime Love, and for the brown/nude a mix of Models Own Nude Beige and Essie Cashmere Bathrobe.

The last step was to paint the black detail lines and also refine the outlines around the shapes using a mix of Fetish and Cashmere Bathrobe.

Overall: It's not my usual paisley design, but I love how it turned out. I absolutely adore my planner, so it was nice to spend a few hours making something to remember this gift, and my friendship with Lindsey.
What do you think of this design? And thanks for reading!
