About this design: You may remember my "Nifty Fifties" design from the beginning of the week. Well that was inspired by a textile design by British designer Lucienne Day. She was really well known for her funky patters and designs inspired by abstract art. I decided to do another mani based on her work. Because I was working from a black and white image I based my colours off this Icelandic Hues palette from Design Seeds.

To get this look: I started with a base of OPI My Vampire is Buff. The background dots were painted with China Glaze Sea Spray and Misa Peach Passion. The lines were done with OPI You Don't Know Jacques! I originally used a black-brown for the lines but I felt that was too dark. I like the low contrast here.

Overall: I wish my lines were thinner and funkier (for lack of better way of explaining it). Sometimes I dislike the lack of precision with nail polish, but I'm not willing to use acrylics either, so I'm trying to work with what I can do.
What do you think of this design? What was your favourite out of my five vintage-themes manis?

ReplyDeleteThat looks so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI am in love with this design. The colors are really well chosen, looks perfect *.*
ReplyDeleteI feel that way often (needing a break from polish)! At the moment I'm busy with a daily challenge and there's just one week left but I'm tired of it - I love doing it but it becomes just a smidgen too much. Some evenings you need a chance to do other stuff as well :)
ReplyDeleteWow! These are just stunning! I love it!
ReplyDeleteThis is actually a new favorite mani by you. It's so complex, yet so simple. It is so esthetically pleasing. And this is coming from a girl that isn't really a fan of nudes or orange colors. Really loving this Meghan!
