SoFlaJo Goldstone: Swatches, Review, and Classic Studs

Hi everyone! SoFlaJo is a Florida-based indie brand that's been on my radar for some time now, and I recently got the opportunity to try a few of their polishes. Jody, the maker, was kind enough to send me four polishes, so I'll be showing them to you over the next week or two.

When I opened up the package, I immediately went for Goldstone, probably because of the beautiful gold shimmer. And I couldn't resist doing some nail art to complement it. Keep reading to check out the simple tape and stud manicure that I came up with!

Goldstone is from the Just Love Her collection for Valentine's Day. It's a limited edition, so if you like it, I would suggest getting it as soon as possible! It's a reddish-brown jelly with gold micro-flakes. I love how this is both classic, but yet has a vampy vibe to it.

The formula is good, but it leans on the sheer side, and I had a bit of pooling in my cuticles when applying. Otherwise, it's really great, and it goes on smooth and evenly. I used four coats here, but you can probably get away with three.

To get this look: For the tape and stud manicure I started with a base of Zoya Chantal, then sealed it with a quick-dry top coat. I waited for it to be very dry before using the tape. The studs are from the Nailasaurus Emporium. I really love the size of them, they provide a nice accent without being too bold.

Overall: I've made it clear before how challenging I find tape manis, so I'm happy that this one turned out so well. Because Goldstone is a tad sheer, there is some unevenness when layering it over Chantal, but I actually don't mind that so much.

What do you think of Goldstone? My taping skills...improving?

You can find SoFlaJo on their shop, also you can keep up with them via Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
