You may have noticed that things have been quiet here the past couple of days...well I've been working on a new Renaissance collection, in addition to having more work on my plate (day job work I mean). Lately I've been thinking of introducing bite-sized posts - good pictures, but minimal text - in addition to, or sometimes in lieu of, my regular posts. One of my goals was to post more nail art, and I think shorter posts would be good for very simple looks that need minimal explanation. And when work and life gets in the way, shorter posts - nail art or simple swatches from my collection - would keep me in the habit of posting on a regular basis. So what do you think of the idea? Yay, works for you, or nay, too much of a cop-out?

Okay, so back to the nail art...
About this look: I did this awhile back when I was swatching the Zoya Naturel collection. I wanted to do some freehand nail art that only used the polishes from this collection. I think it's challenging because you don't have a huge range of contrast. With this design, I think a very dark brown for some of the outlines would make it stand out more.

To get this look: I started with a base of Zoya Taylor. The design was done with Zoya Normani, Rue, Odette, and Taylor, all from the Naturel collection. I did the entire design freehand - except for my middle finger where I taped off the top part.

Overall: I'm always striving for the finest lines when it comes to my details and outlines, so I think that there's room for improvement here. But I really like it as a simple nail art look.
What do you think of this? What's your favourite nail art look using the Naturel collection?
Hi Meghan
ReplyDeleteYay it certainly would work for me - I'm here no matter what, you know I love your talent :)
and I do understand that you need short posts from time to time (y)
I love how these look! I think your idea with the shorter post sounds like a great idea too :)
ReplyDeleteThis is really pretty! I love nude manis with some extra spark (or nailart;-))
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Kristina! :)
DeleteThe nail art is what's important to me to shorter posts would be just fine :) I love how the different designs on these nails come together :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Painted Fingertips. :)
DeleteMeghan, I say do what's easiest for you to continue putting out content, whether that's with or without long text. I follow several international nail polish blogs, and for most of them I don't even bother clicking on the "translate" function. Pretty photos are enough for me!!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for the feedback on my blogging question - Mette, Lisa N., Painted Fingertips, and Cat. :) I think I'll still be writing more for most posts (I tend to have more, rather than less to say), so we'll see. I know a lot of people don't read posts, but it's still an outlet for me. And for reviews I'll always write more - my pet peeve is reviews that have a very basic description, number of coats used, and little else.
ReplyDeleteI do understand the less writing about a simple mani look, so I'm with you on that decision ;)
ReplyDeleteAs for this mani, it's simply adorable! I love the nude-ish colours you used and the design's theme is just adorable - did you try the matte version? It'd def be a knocker with this one **
So so cute!! Love the simplicity and the sweetness, the polka dots are adorable. I like the idea of short posts for simpler nail art and I always love a nice swatch post so everything is good on that level :)
ReplyDeleteI'd be down for the bite-sized posts :)
ReplyDeleteGreat mani :) New follower here!
ReplyDeleteI think small posts is a good idéa, I love to see your pictures and a short explanation will be good enough :)
ReplyDeleteI like it, Meghan! Do shorter/quicker pic posts if it works; the more nail art the better! I love checking out your designs as they are always good. :)
ReplyDeleteI am still in love with this collection and I really love the nail art you've created with it, it's so cute! :D
