About this design: Today's challenge is jewel tones, and my original plan was to do flowers. But I was really enjoying my background and that turned into my design. I ended up using Chalkboard Nails distressed technique for this design. I've done distressed nails my own way, like in my Ethereal Dreamcatcher nails, but this time I used the brushes from the polish bottles to drag the polish and get that textured look.

To get this look: I started with a black base, and used the following polishes, dragging them with the brush from the polish bottle, making sure that I had wiped it mostly clean.
Enchanted Polish Kids
Enchanted Polish Ice Castle
Glitter Gal Wild Violets Brilliant
China Glaze Red-y & Willing
China Glaze Tongue & Chic

Overall: I really like this look, and it's something I want to try again. I don't feel like this is a winner straight out of the box. I think I'd like to give this idea another shot and try to perfect it. But it is quite stunning and dramatic, I love the effects of the polishes layered and over a black base.
What do you think of this? Have you tried distressed nails?

ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I'll have to give it a try soon!
ReplyDeleteThis looks great! I understand exactly what you mean - this is an awesome challenge but I can only do 2-3 posts each week for it.
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty! You would never know you had a black as a base. All of the colors compliment each other so well! I've tried the distress nails but I haven't experimented with a lot of colors.
ReplyDeletethis looks gorgeous with those jeweled metallics - it is its own artwork!
