Mix n' Match Magenta |
About this design: This design really has a Valentine's Day look with the hearts, and I suppose that wasn't purely accidental. I've realized that once you become an indie maker you start thinking about the holidays a lot sooner than others. In fact my sister and I are working on getting our Valentine's Day polishes this coming up week!

When I set out to do this mani, I just wanted to do something a bit easier but also try something new (the hearts with gradient background). I deviated a bit from the monochromatic with the silver glitter and holo polish, but I think they really work well with the whole design.

To get this look: I started with a base of Essie Plumberry on my pinky, then did a gradient with Color Club Beyond. It didn't turn out as smooth (gradient-wise) as I had hoped but I like the look. My ring finger is Plumberry topped with China Glaze Glitz n' Pieces.

On my middle finger I started with Cult Nails Tempest, then I did a gradient with Tempest and Cult Nails Fetish. I painted the hearts with Fetish and a fine liner brush, then filled them in with Plumberry. I also thought a nice black border would work on this, and I like how that turned out. My index finger is Beyond, with a stud I got from The Nailasaurus Emporium.

Overall: Despite a few hiccups (the gradient for one), I really love how this turned out. I think it would be great for Valentine's Day, so I'll probably revisit the hearts on strings look. Get it...heartstrings!? Lol!
So what do you think of this? What is your favourite design of mine from this week's challenge?

Love these! All five of your manis this week were amazing, but I'm most in lust with the last three days of the theme!
ReplyDeleteThank you Lindsay, those are amongst my favourite as well (although I still have a soft spot for my roses on day 1). :)
DeleteThese are so pretty and cute! I love manicures where each nail is different too :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Lisa! I feel the same way, I tend to get bored when all my nails look the same, lol!
DeleteGorgeousness! There's something dark in this design that draws me to it .. Reminds of Tim Burton movie for some reason :))
ReplyDeleteVery cool! I don't watch a lot of Tim Burton movies, but that's an interesting connection. :) Thank you.
Deletewow so cool nail art! *o*

ReplyDeleteI know, me too! Lol! :)
DeleteThis is such a fun manicure! i <3 it. the colors work so well together!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I also love the colours together, I'll have to do something with them again. :)
DeleteOooh! You did it again! I love these! Those hearts and the colors are amazing!
ReplyDeleteWow - you did five amazing DD designs this month! There is no way to pick a favorite. I love the freedom in the sprouts, the vintage in the blue valentine, the simplicity of the heart-string skittle (although your heart-strings look difficult to paint), the geometric spacing of the purple shapes, and the calming sepia stripes. Beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous! The way the colours and overall mood matches across the nails is amazing.
ReplyDeleteThe hearts nail is too cute! :)
