The Digit-al Dozen Does Monochrome: Lil' Green Sprouts

Hi everyone! It got late last night and I wasn't able to post my third nail art design for The Digit-al Dozen monochrome week, so I will be posting twice tonight. For that reason I will keep this short and sweet.

Little Green Sprouts

When it comes to nail art, I tend to go for the intricate and time-consuming. In fact, the members of The Digit-al Dozen have been working on Queen names for themselves, and I happen to be the Queen of Intricate Nail Art. But this design showed me that sometimes the most simple nail art can be just as effective.

About this design: The inspiration for this nail art came from a background I used for one of my Beginner Blogger's Bootcamp title images. You can see the original image here. I was really attracted to the sketchy look of the little sprouts, and it reminded me of a drawing.

To get this look: I started with a base of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls. Then I blotted on the greens using Misa Lime Love for the light green, and Nubar Into the Wild for the darker shade. Then, using a fine liner brush, I painted the stems and outlines of the sprouts with Cult Nails Fetish. It's one of those things where you just have to pray and get it right the first time. Yup, I was a tad nervous with that last part!

Overall: It doesn't have that WOW factor that some of my more complicated nail art designs have, but at the same time, I'm oddly attached to this one. Maybe because it's just so gosh darned cute, I mean look at them, lil' itty bitty sprouts, awwww!!

Okay, I'm done gushing, what do you think of these?

  8. Ok, I reached the conclusion that I need MBFSW. I always have fear of using whites, but this one looks more muted (and everyone is using it!)
Lovely design Meghan, as usual ^^

    1. Thank you Fernanda, and yes, MBSW is a lovely colour. It's a slightly grey-toned white, so it is not so bright as a regular white. I really like using it as a base for nail art as you may have already been able to tell! :)

  12. No, there is definitely 'wow' factor, the clean look of the green and lines against the white background guarantees it. I think revisiting this when spring is on its way would be a genius idea. I really love these little guys.

    1. Jolene you're absolutely right, I probably won't do the exact same thing but something similar in the spring would be nice.
