GOT Polish Challenge: I've GOT the Blues

Hi everyone! This week's GOT challenge was blue, and you may think that it would be difficult to pick out one blue, given that I have so many. Surprisingly it was easy. I knew right away that I wanted to use one of the more unique, and hard-to-find polishes in my collection...Enchanted Polish Ballerina Sprinkles!

I also did some grungy, distressed flowers on top. But I'm on the fence as to whether they turned out or not, so I think I'll let you be the judge of that!

Ballerina Sprinkles was re-released by Enchanted Polish last winter and I was able to get my hands on it. Although I've used it in nail art, this is the first chance I've had to swatch it. I was a bit worried that it would be too sheer and underwhelming, so I was pleased that it wasn't those things at all!

Ballerina Sprinkles is a pale blue with a duochrome pink-gold shimmer. It also has a subtle holo effect - but be warned, it's really subtle. For me though, the gorgeous shimmer makes up for the almost non-apparent holo.

I used three thin coats and the formula was absolutely perfect. It went on very smooth and evenly. Also the consistency was just right, and I had no issues with it flooding my cuticles or anything.

To get this look: For the nail art, I wanted to do some flowers that had a sketchy-grungy-distressed look, while still being feminine and pretty. I took a tiny nail art brush to drag and swipe the polish along my nails. I did the outlines in a very sketchy manner, then blurred them out, then added them again, and so on and so on.

Girly Distressed Flowers

These are the polishes I used to get this look:

  • OPI Vant To Bite My Neck?
  • OPI You're Such a BudaPest
  • Orly Luxe
  • Renaissance Custom Lacquer Taffeta Gown
  • Essie Nothing Else Metals
  • Essie The More the Merrier

Girly Distressed Flowers

Overall: I'm on the fence about this look. I liked my earlier attempt at distressed flowers that I did for The Digit-al Dozen black and white week. Here I'm not sure if the flowers really stand out enough, or maybe I could have done the lines better, and on and on. But there's something about this I do like, even if it's an idea for another design, or else I wouldn't have posted it.

What do you think of these flowers? Were you able to get your hands on Ballerina Sprinkles?
