The Digit-al Dozen Does Red, Gold, and Green: Day One: Lynnderella Spumoni

Hi everyone! This month's Digit-al Dozen nail art week started yesterday, but I missed it on account of the Beginner Blogger's Bootcamp post. So it looks like I'll be playing catch-up later this week! The theme of red, gold, and green obviously ties into the upcoming holidays. And despite the fact that I generally like holiday-themed nail art, I'll admit that I'm finding this week hard in terms of coming up with unique nail art ideas.

Lynnderella Spumoni with water marble accent nail

I took advantage of the prompt to try one of my untried Lynnderellas - Spumoni - from last year's holiday collection. Despite the criticisms that people have for these polishes, I really treasure my Lynns and I think they are some of the most gorgeous glitter polishes in my collection.

Spumoni is a glitter topper with matte mint and white glitter in hexes, squares and diamonds. There is also a hint of black and red square glitter that acts as more of an accent. I remember when I first saw it, I thought it was such a unique colour combination, and I still believe that.

The polish is almost clear-based but has a bit of a milky tint to it. I found this out when I tried to layer it over gold, but the polish dulled the gold base slightly. So instead, I layered it over OPI My Vampire is Buff, and I love how it turned out. I used one coat of Spumoni, and it applied fabulously.

For the accent nail I started with a base of My Vampire is Buff, then I did a subtle water marble using Orly Luxe and Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet. I love how it turned out with the streak of mint running across the nail. :)

What do you think of Spumoni? Do you own this polish?

  2. Looks very pretty - I gave up on Lynn polish when it first hit and was impossible to get hold of less you paid $50 and up/bottle. .. but it was one of the very first truly creative glitter polishes. I always felt it was the hype over it initially that wrecked it in polish land for many like me who just gave up over all the hype, impossible to get issues. I do love looking at it however.

  5. I would never have thought to use mint instead of pure green! It almost has a spring-like freshness to it. Over white and it'd be like glacier water on snow! Lovely. :)

  8. Oh, how beautiful! I have Spumoni all saved and waiting for me to finally break down and wear it, but I've only ever seen it over minty bases--what a great idea to go with My Vampire Is Buff! Speaking of which, honestly, OPI needs to make that one core, STAT. Best. Base. Ever. XD
