New Polishes from Renaissance Custom Lacquer

Hi everyone! I haven't blogged for a few days, but behind the scenes I've been very busy. My sister and I have been working to get new polishes in the shop and I was finally able to release them today. All of these polishes are currently available at Renaissance Cosmetics. You can also go to the shop to see more swatch photos.

I'll be sending these to some bloggers so that you can get some unbiased reviews, but in the meantime if you have any questions about finishes, formulas or whatever, please ask!

The Shimmers

This is an open-ended collection, meaning that we'll be adding new colours whenever the inspiration strikes. I love polishes with gorgeous shimmers and I'm making it my mission to try to make the most beautiful, luminous shimmers that I can.

Formula-wise they are all very much the same. They go on very smooth and evenly and all of them are self-leveling. They are very pigmented so some of them can easily be one-coaters, but I always use two out of habit. I don't think you will need more than two coats on any of these. I'm dying to use them in some nail art, so stay tuned for that!

Due to the nature of the pigments they dry to a matte/semi-matte finish. So you will need a glossy top coat to get the full effect of the shimmer. I also recommend refreshing your manicure every few days with a new coat of top coat. That's a good idea regardless, because it makes your manicure last longer.

Mount Pleasant is an emerald green with a green shimmer. This is easily a one coater, but I used two.

Runnymede is a brownish-red with a gold-rose duochrome shimmer. It has a beautiful and rich shimmer and the polish shifts from red, to brown, to gold to burgundy/magenta. This is 2 coats.

Spadina is a golden brown with slight greenish undertones. It has a gold shimmer with hints of red and green. This is 2 coats.

St. Clair is a medium blue with a blue-pink duochrome shimmer and flashes of aqua shimmer. This is easily my favourite and the shimmer will change depending on the light. The texture is a tad grittier due to the shimmer and pigments, but it's not an issue once you add a coat of top coat. This could also be one coat but I used two here.

The Danforth is a deep eggplant purple with a fleck-like shimmer. The shimmer is mostly fuchsia but there's also gold and hints of green. This could also be a one-coater, but I used two.

I love how rich all these colours are - they were made with the fall and winter in mind!

Two New Stand Alones

Crystalline is a spectraflair-based glitter topper with a light to medium holo effect. It has tiny to medium sized hex glitter in gold, blue, lavender and white. It also has snowflake glitter! The snowflakes are a bit of a challenge to get out - even though there's plenty - so it needs to be turned upside down and shaken a bit. It's possible to get more snowflakes than I did, but I rather like how the snowflakes are more of an accent than something that takes over the nails. :) This is one coat over black polish.

Evenstar is a shimmery glitter topper that's mostly blue and silver with a healthy dose of silver holo glitter so that it has a scattered holo effect. I love how shimmery this is, you can just get lost in it! The consistency is a bit thick, but very manageable - it's just glitter dense. If you want to use less glitter you can dab it on with a makeup sponge. I used 1 coat here over OPI My Vampire is Buff. You can also see it with piCture pOlish Whimsy in my previous post.
