L'Hiver, The Perfect Backdrop for Holiday Ornaments

Hi everyone! Another week, another entry for the Nail Polish Canada Holiday Nail Art Challenge. The theme for this week was decorations, and I'll admit it was pretty difficult to try and come up with an interesting slant for this one. However, I was able to use some polishes from my indie line, Renaissance Custom Lacquer, so I'm very proud of the results.

I've done ornament nails several times, but this time I was inspired by a picture I saw of some star-shaped lights strung up in a home interior photo. I tried to recreate the lights but not so successfully due to the fact that it is hard to paint teeny tiny stars.

To get this look: I started with a base of L'Hiver from Renaissance Custom Lacquer (RCL for short), and then painted the black lines with black polish. I filled in the shapes with white polish to provide a good base for the colours I would add on top. The ornaments I filled in with Mount Pleasant, Spadina, St. Clair and Runnymede, all from my indie line (more details in yesterday's post). The tiny stars were painted with Essie Good as Gold. I dabbed on a bit of RCL Evenstar to give it some glitz.

Overall, I'm very happy with the results, even if I have done similar designs before. I saw so many gorgeous pictures when searching for holiday inspiration, so don't be surprised if you see more designs with holiday ornaments before the year is over!

What do you think of this? How would you approach the theme of decorations?

P.S. Don't forget to vote for your favourite design here.
