31 Day Challenge: Day Thirty-One, Re-create Your Favourite Challenge

Hi everyone! So here we are, my final design for the 31 Day Challenge. I'm not sure if this process made me a better nail artist or a better blogger, but I do know that some of my best designs in recent months came out of the prompts. However, when it was time to re-create my favourite challenge, there was no doubt that I'd be revisiting the galaxy nails.

Gold-framed galaxies

About this design: I was very happy with the rainbow galaxy nails that I did a few months ago, but I wanted to try something different. I had the idea of framing the nails - originally I wanted to do gothic pointed arches,  then I realized they would cover too much of the design. So that's where the fine gold outline came it. I really love the effect that the gold frame has. Together with the colours of the galaxy nails, it looks like I have jewel-encrusted tips. This design just has a really opulent look without being over the top.

To get this look: Normally when I do galaxy nails I use so many polishes, many of which you don't even see in the final mani. So this time I restricted myself to a more limited palette. I started with a base of Essie Midnight Cami (the perfect midnight blue), and the darker colours were built up with Models Own Pinky Brown, Zoya Suri, and piCture pOlish Cosmos.

Black polish was added to push the darks, and the light areas were built up with Zoya Lotus and OPI My Vampire is Buff. White polish was used for the stars, and the gold frame is Orly Luxe.

I can't emphasize how much I love this look. The gold adds the perfect accent and the galaxy design has a nice mix of colours. I really don't miss all the extra polishes.

What do you think of this? Have you ever completed the 31 Day Challenge?
