Dior Vernis Mystic Metallics Fall 2013: Destin and Galaxie

Hi everyone! I was in Sephora the other day when the new Dior collection caught my eye. The Mystic Metallics collection for fall plays on the beauty of shimmer, with smokey greys, teals, and dramatic contrasts. It consists of several single eyeshadows (called "Diorshow fusion mono"), a five shadow compact, four Dior Addict Glosses, two Addict Extreme lipsticks, and three polishes. One of the polishes is a magnetic one, which I didn't see it at the store, but I'll admit I'm not into the magnetics trend. I did managed to get the other two polishes - Destin and Galaxie.

I'm very quickly developing a love for Dior polishes, despite the fact that I really don't have the income right now to support such a habit. They've always impressed me with beautiful but classic colours, nice packaging, and stellar formula. The brushes are wide and rounded so it is easy to apply a nice line along the cuticles, making the application even easier.

These two shades are no exception. In fact, the whole collection is gorgeous. I also went home with one of the Addict Gloss shades - Ensourcelante 981, highly recommended - and I'm tempted to pick up the five shadow compact (maybe if I rob a bank...just kidding!).

Destin (382) is a neutral taupe with a very noticeable silver shimmer. If I ever have to work in an office with a conservative dress code, this would be at the top of my list for an appropriate nail polish. Although it's a neutral colour, I don't consider it to be boring. The application and formula was perfect - it went on very smooth and was completely self-leveling. This was two coats.

Galaxie (992), no surprise, was the one that caught my eye initially. It's a deep maroon with a very subtle blue-red-fuchsia shimmer. The shimmer is not very noticeable, but does give the polish a beautiful luminosity. It's one of those polishes that I think would look good on almost anyone, and I instantly found it flattering and appealing. The formula is also perfect on this one. I used two coats but it's almost a one-coater. It went on very smooth and evenly.

I know a number of people have commented that these polishes are out of their price range. Hopefully you don't mind me showing them. If that's your situation, but you ever get the chance to splurge or can save up for a high end polish, I do recommend Dior polishes. Although my experience is rather limited, I have yet to be disappointed by them.

What do you think of these? Have you seen the new Mystic Metallics collection?
