Rainbow Honey Summer of 199X, Swatches and Review, Part Two

Hi everyone! I have the second half of the Rainbow Honey Summer of 199X collection. Don't forget to check out Part One for the first half and background information on the collection as a whole.

About these polishes: This half of the collection consists of five gorgeous jellies packed with shimmer and glitter of various kinds. The colours are beautiful and the polishes have a luminosity that is very eye catching. The only downside of these five polishes is that they tend to be thick and a bit challenging in terms of application. There are exceptions, which I've noted below. However, that doesn't mean the challenges outweigh the benefits, and I think they are still worthwhile. Adding a few drops of thinner, sticking to thinner coats, layering them over a base colour, and waiting a few minutes between coats are all recommendations for these polishes.

Fire Spring is an orange jelly packed with orange, iridescent and gold holographic glitter, and gold shimmer. This one tends to be on the thick side, but I really love how the glitter complements the base colour. I used two coats, plus a coat of Gelous, and top coat. I find with these jellies that adding a coat of Gelous before the top coat helps to smooth them out.

Lumine Hall is a dark blue leaning towards purple jelly with matching glitter as well as iridescent square glitter. This one was a bit better in terms of formula but I did have to add a few drops of thinner. I used two coats plus Gelous and top coat.

Pink Cloud is a bright pink jelly packed with pink and iridescent glitter, small red hexes, and medium silver holographic squares and hexes. This was on the sheer side and even with three coats I still had some visible nail line, so I'd recommend layering this one. This was one of the thicker ones and required thinner and lots of shaking.

The Kraken is a gorgeous teal jelly with teal, blue and holographic gold glitter. Out of the five this one has the best formula, it goes on very smooth and doesn't get thick or gloopy. I used two coats here along with Gelous and top coat. And while it looks like there's some visible nail line, it is not noticeable in person.

Tiny Ruby is vivid red jelly with lots of shimmer, and red and holographic gold glitter. I love the colour on this one, it definitely has that ruby slippers look. This one was also thick and requires thinner and thin coats. I used two coats here, along with a coat of Gelous and top coat.

Overall, I really love the colours in this collection. The formula on most of these can be a bit challenging, however, it's still workable, and worth the effort. My favourite above all is The Kraken, followed closely by Lumine Hall. I love the teal colours in The Kraken and the better formula means the final mani looks nicer. For layering options, you must check out Nailderella's review of three of these polishes - she layered them over black and the effect is totally gorgeous.

I bought these polishes from Rainbow Honey's website, which only ships to the US and Canada. But a list of retailers is available on their website.

What do you think of these? Are you planning to get anything from this collection?

    1. Hi Kellie, it's shown on it's own - three coats. I didn't layer it over another polish although next time I wear it I probably would do that.
