I have a few Lumina Lacquer swatches to share with you. All of these are excellent glitter bombs and I would highly recommend them if you are thinking of buying them. I definitely plan to wear all three again, either on their own or in some sort of skittle manicure.
The formula on all three was the same, so I will get that out of the way. I used one coat, sometimes with a few touch ups, over a base polish. Each one had great glitter payoff, however, it helps to let them sit upside down for 15 minutes beforehand just to help distribute the glitter that wants to settle to the bottom. Also give them a good shake before applying. I found this is the best way to get the shape glitter out - the hearts, stars, moons, larger circles, etc.
1000 Julys is a gorgeous blue glitter bomb. There's tiny blue holographic glitter, blue hexes in different sizes, blue holographic bars, stars and large circles. I find it interesting that there are several different shades of blue, but generally they fall in the mid-value range. On top of that there's a smattering of black glitter - hexes, hearts, and larger circles. I really love the hearts, stars and larger circles in this one. I decided to keep with the blue theme, and so I layered it over Lime Crime Once in a Blue Mousse.

Grape Granita was one that instantly caught my eye when I first heard of Lumina Lacquer. It has a nice combination of white, pink and lavender glitter. There's matte white squares and hexes in different sizes; pastel pink and lavender hexes, squares, hearts, stars and butterflies; rose-coloured flowers; and metallic pink and purple hexes and squares. There's also some holo glitter - enough to provide an accent, but not so much that it overwhelms. I layered this one over Girly Bits Twitterpated and I really love this combination.

Moon Child is similar to Grape Granita, but not so similar that you can't have both! Moon Child has more matte white glitter, and more large glitter. It is also predominantly pink, with only a tiny bit of lavender glitter. Like the others there is so much variety in terms of glitter: tiny/small pink, lavender and fuchsia glitter; medium/large white hexes, diamonds, moon, and bars; pastel pink flowers; pink diamonds; large pink holographic circles; and medium/large pink holo hexes. The larger pink holo hexes have some reflective curling but they lay flat on the nail. In keeping with the complementary base colours, I layered this over Girly Bits Hot Shot.

I love the variety of glitter in each one - not just in terms of shapes, but also finishes. There's matte, metallic, holo, and satin finish glitter brought together in all three polishes. And despite the variety, they all work out well. It's hard to pick a favourite but I'm leaning towards 1000 Julys. I just love the blue and those circles!

What do you think of these? Which one is your favourite?
I think 1000 Julys is my favourite!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great choice! Glad you liked it! :)
DeleteThey are all gorgeous!! +.+
ReplyDeleteHaha! Yes, yes, they are! ;) Lumina Lacquer seems to have that effect.
DeleteThese are all beautiful glitter bombs! Unfortunately bigger glitters don't work well with my nails. I have skinny fingers (my index ring size on my swatching hand is a 5) which results in not too wide nails, and they really curve, so large glitters don't work well at all. Only my thumbs can accommodate them without majorly sticking out.
ReplyDeleteWhoa!!! I feel your pain. I thought I had skinny fingers but my index finger is more like a size 8. It's too bad because it seems like many indies are moving towards the big chunky glitters. :(
DeleteI'll make sure to show some polishes with smaller glitters every now and then so you don't feel left out. ;)
I love how you layered 1000 Julys! It's such a great glitter combo :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I liked how the base polish made the glitter stand out more. It doesn't always work out so great.
DeleteI really love that these have those huge circle glitters! I have been lemming over them since I first saw them :)
ReplyDeleteI know, large circles have that effect don't they!! O.O I hope you are able to get your hands on one, or a few of them. :)
