Pahlish April Showers Duo Swatches and Review

Hi everyone! You have the speedy Canada/US postal system to thank for today's blog post. I wasn't expecting these for at least a few more days. The April Showers duo is a limited edition set that will only be available for the month of April. Pahlish plans to come out with a new duo every month that will only be available for that month. I was fortunate to be sent these for review, and man are they gorgeous! I can't wait to see future monthly duos, and I think this is a great idea - but maybe not for the wallet, lol.

If you are interested in either polish, the duo will be launching tonight, April 12th, at 7:00pm central time on the Pahlish Etsy store. Also launching tonight is the new Experimental Methods collection, which I haven't had a chance to try out, but they also look awesome. You can see bottle shots of those on the Pahlish Facebook page. And especially appealing for international customers, Pahlish has a new-ish flat rate shipping system, so perfect time to stock up on some new pretties, plus some of the Coney Island Queen collection polishes I showed yesterday! ;)

Now that I've gotten the practical info out of the way, let's look at some swatches, yes!? It's no secret that I love blue, so this little duo was heaven for me, so many different shades of blue at one time!

All swatches are with a coat of Seche Vite.

Through Still and Storm is a dusty slate blue creme with hints of teal. There's also grey micro-flakes and a beautiful blue shimmer that is not hidden on the nail. I used three coats here but two will work for most people. It went on very smooth and levelled nicely, but it does dry dull, so one or two coats of top coat is recommended.

Ocean Gone Wrong is a clear-based glitter topper with various shades of blue glitter. There's aqua circles, teal squares, midnight and royal blue hexes, and blue micro-glitter. There's also tiny silver (or maybe rose gold) hexes that provide a colour complement to the blue. To top it off, it has a gorgeous blue-violet shimmer! I did one coat over Through Still and Storm, with touch ups in a few spots. On a side note, I love the name of this polish!

I wanted to also see how the glitter layered over a lighter polish, so I did a gradient with China Glaze Sea Spray as my base. I used a makeup sponge to dab on the glitter polish.

If you missed it above, this duo will be available starting tonight, April 12th at 7pm central time on the Pahlish Etsy site. Also launching is a new collection called Experimental Methods. What do you think of these? Do you like the idea of limited edition monthly themed polishes?

  1. These are stunning, definitely adding them to my wish list!

I do like the idea of monthly themed polishes, I think it is a great way to keep something current even if you aren't doing an entire line!

    1. I'm glad you liked them! :) And that's a good way of thinking about it. It's hard to keep up with Pahlish sometimes though. In addition to doing new collections (of 5-6 polishes) on a regular basis, she also does stuff like this. It's hard on the wallet I mean. ;)

  2. I love it with the China Glaze polish. This looks like the perfect polish for a gradient!

    1. Thanks! It worked very well for a gradient. It's not densely packed, so it was better to use the makeup sponge so you get more glitter on the nail.

    1. Christine, I hope you enjoy the duo as much as I did. I absolutely love this shade of blue and the glitter will go over a lot of things. :) I feel your pain regarding the monthly duos, my wallet will also be weeping if they continue to be as good as this!
