Laquerlicious "I Do" Collection: My Picks

Hi everyone! Laquerlicious is another indie brand that I first learned about through Instagram (note: Instagram is not fun if you are on a no-buy, lol!). I've been following Michelle and her creations for awhile now, and she just recently released a set of six glitter bombs all based on the theme of the spring wedding. I'm not really a wedding person, but I just loved the lighter tone of these polishes, and the nice spring colours, so I fell for them instantly. I decided to buy four out of the six, and of course I had to share them!

Laquerlicious (L-R) I Now Pronounce You, Just Married, The Perfect Gown,
and Something Blue

All four of these are glitter toppers, so they are meant to be layered over another polish. For the most part they are clear-based, except Something Blue has a faint blue tint to the base and I Now Pronounce You has a faint pink tint. The formula on all four was great, I only needed one coat for each, with a bit of dabbing and glitter placement required so that the glitter was spread out evenly. Also I didn't have much trouble getting the larger glitter pieces out, but a good shake is required before applying with each of them.

I Now Pronounce You is packed with lots of shimmer, and purple and rose micro-glitter. There's also periwinkle and lavender hexes, and white, silver, and purple shards. I love the shards in this one! And not noticeable at first are sheer iridescent hexes. They are very subtle but add complexity. I layered this over OPI My Very First Knockwurst.

Just Married is made up mostly of tiny pink glitter, gold squares and hexes in different sizes, and white squares and hexes in different sizes. To add interest there's a generous helping of blue circles and fuchsia squares that function as an accent. The colour scheme is what really drew me to this one. Also there's some holo glitter - the gold squares and hexes, as well as some of the micro-glitter. This one is absolutely stunning when it hits the light! I layered this over OPI My Vampire is Buff.

Something Blue is more of a delicate glitter topper. It's mainly made up of micro-glitter and shimmer with small hexes and squares, some of which is iridescent. I layered this over Avon Vintage Blue.

The Perfect Gown is making a second appearance on this blog. If you missed it the first time you can see that here. This time I layered it over Lacquer Lust Sweet Georgia Peach, and I really love how feminine this combination is. This is made up of white squares and hexes in different sizes, also gold hexes, squares and bars, some of which are holographic. Add to that lots of shimmer and you have a polish that is so difficult to capture. But I love the white/gold combination of this one.

I bought these polishes from the Laquerlicious Etsy store and they are still available. The service was fantastic, I think my order was shipped out the very next day. I have only good things to say about my experience ordering from Michelle.

What do you think of these polishes? Have you tried any Laquerlicious polishes?

And thank you for the nomination! I'm very touched <3 But I might not have time to do this, it's a really hectic time for me work-wise and I'm finding it a challenge to just keep the blog going. I really appreciate the gesture though! :)

    1. It's a nice idea isn't it! I know that Essie has a bridal collection in the spring but it's all cremes of course. And those two that you picked are very pretty and gorgeous, especially in person. :)

  6. I love all of them! I've never tried this brand. In fact, the only indie I've ever tried is Candy Lacquer. Some are so expensive to ship to the UK! :(

Also, I have to ask, what is your lighting setup? Like bulbs etc. because your pictures always look lovely!

    1. Allie, thanks for your comment. I feel your pain regarding the shipping. I live in Canada, and since the USPS rate increases, I've been ordering less indies. If I was in the UK it would be a lot less. To add to that I've had problems with packages coming into the US, very long shipping times, and even lost packages, so I'm also ordering less indies for that reason.

I've never tried Candy Lacquer, but I've seen swatches, and they have some really great stuff. I'll look into them more. :)

Regarding the photos. Thanks for the nice complement, I've been working on improving them, so I appreciate the feedback. I use a 17-inch softbox light cube from Cowboy Studio. Here's the link so you can see what I'm talking about. http://www.cowboystudio.com/product_p/tent.htm You can also get these on Amazon and probably eBay. It's good for doing swatches, not so good for bottle shots. I also use two cheap desk lamps with OTT lightbulbs. OTT is a specific brand and they mimic natural daylight. They are better than other lightbulbs that are supposed to be daylight bulbs. Let me know if you have any more questions about the photos. Maybe I'll do a post on this sometime if there's enough interest. :)

    2. Thank you for the detailed reply! I am definitely going to look into getting some OTT bulbs. I find my current set up is decent but tends to make my skin look red, and the pictures are sometimes too dark. A post would be helpful and probably popular with your readers too!

    1. Thanks Paint Those Piggies! I'm glad you liked my swatches. Michelle is a nail technician/manicurist for many years so she really knows nail polish. I've only tried these four, but I think she does some great work! :)
