Sally Hansen Barracuda |
Barracuda is part of the Complete Salon Manicure line, and judging by the price, I'm guessing that means it is supposed to be high quality (for Sally Hansen that is). It's a pale baby blue creme that is a bit muted and leans slightly towards a mint green - but when compared to a mint green it is definitely blue. It's a bit thin and streaky, but evens out with additional coats. I needed three coats for full coverage. The application was good and I like the wide rounded brush that it comes with.

But while the application was pretty easy, capturing the colour accurately was another issue. So excuse the slightly odd skin tone - that's from my attempts to adjust the colour. In fact the majority of swatches I've seen of this are not colour accurate. These photos are close but the polish leans slightly more towards mint green than you see here.
If you already have a pastel baby blue in your collection - or five - you might not need this one. I don't have too many pastel colours, so it was a nice addition. And the application was fairly good, although I'd prefer if it was two coats.
Do you own Barracuda? What do you think of it?
hi Meghan I just love this color, one of my favorates - but I have Zoya Blue, so it's not going on my wish list :)
ReplyDeletelove your pics and nails - always gorgeous !
I understand. Zoya Blu is a pretty colour, I'll probably pick that one up myself!
DeleteI just bought this colour on sale at Shoppers and it is on my nails right now. It is such a beautiful summer colour! I have mostly OPI, a few China Glaze and a couple Zoya. I don't normally buy the drug store brands either. But I saw this colour and a woman in a shop and she told me it was Sally Hansen Barracuda. It is a unique colour - I haven't seen any yet that are quite like it. It goes on very opaque and creamy, so you have to put 3 coats or 2 thick coats to avoid the streaks. But I have found that to be the case with a lot of creams from the higher end polish makers too, so it's not an issue. They are always trickier to work with. It dried nicely for such thick coats! I have used a top coat yet because it is quite glossy on its own. I will put a coat of Seche Vite for good measure later today to preserve the mani. Your nails look gorgeous, BTW. Much better than mine, when I look at them and compare them to yours on the screen! LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the nice comment! :) Because of this polish I actually started buying more of the Sally Hansen polishes and so far I've been happy with all of them. This is still my favourite of this brand and line though!
