Models Own Swatches, Part One

Hey everyone! I've been interested in trying Models Own polishes for a while. I recently received my prize package from the Wah Nails 12 Days of Wah challenge, which included some Models Own nail art supplies and only fuelled my interest in this brand. Unfortunately, for those of us outside the UK, ordering directly from Models Own is very expensive. But fortunately, Harlow & Co. carries a good selection of Models Own and shipping rates are much more reasonable. So when Katie from Harlow & Co. contacted me and asked if I would be interested in swatching some Models Own polishes, of course I said yes!!

Models Own Green Tea, True Blue, and Nude Beige

She sent me an awesome package of some cremes, glitters, and one duochrome polish. I'm showing you the cremes today and will save the glittery / shimmery stuff for another day. ;) I'm also interested in using these polishes for nail art, so stay tuned for some future posts, hopefully later this week or early next week.

All swatches are two coats with Seche Vite top coat.

Nude Beige: This is a medium-toned nude creme with hints of mauve. It's a bit cool-toned, and on me very flattering with my skin tone. The consistency was perfect - very creamy and smooth, almost a one coater! Also it was completely self-leveling. I love this one on its own, but it would also be perfect for some sophisticated nail art, maybe a tape mani or some half moons.

Green Tea: This is a vibrant kelly/irish green creme. It dries to a very smooth semi-matte finish, which was unexpected. But unlike other matte polishes I've tried, this was excellent in terms of application. It applies smooth and even, and is completely self-leveling. It also dries fast, but not so fast that it's drying while you apply it! I love the very vibrant and unique colour on this one. It's perfect on it's own but would also make for some awesome Saint Patrick's Day nail art! (Note: This polish is very difficult to capture accurately. It's a bit more vibrant than you see in these photos.)

True Blue: This was my favourite of the bunch, but that's expected since I love blue. This is a gorgeous cobalt blue creme. Like the others, it applied evenly and was completely self leveling. It's also very pigmented. This was almost a one coater for me, and I'm sure if you are careful when applying you could totally pull it off with just one coat! I could see myself wearing this on its own and using it for nail art.

Currently Harlow & Co. is having a promo where you get a free Models Own lip balm with any purchase of a Models Own polish. Since Katie included one in my package, I thought I would let you know about it. I'm prone to really dry, chapped lips in the winter, so I've tried a lot of lip balms. Most of them provide temporary relief but don't really do anything to improve your lips. I find this lip balm very nourishing and actually does improve my lips in the long run. After a day of using it, my lips were less dry and chapped, even when I was no longer wearing it. It also comes in a cute compact with a mirror inside. I love it! I got the coconut scent which has a nice smell but is not overpowering.

Models Own Lip Balm

Models Own is available in various places in the UK, but for those of you outside the UK, it's available also through Harlow & Co. They ship internationally, and orders over $50 ship free!

What do you think of these polishes, do you own any Models Own?
